Heater box repairs

My heater box has a couple of small cracks. One is near the upper hose connection, the other is on top of the vent door opening. What I'm wondering is if anyone has repaired these with a basic fiberglass repair kit, like the Bondo brand one found in stores. I've been told that there are different types of fiberglass resins and that the kit might not be compatible.
