steering wheel paint

  • Has anyone here repainted their steering wheel? I have seen articles about fixing the cracks and repainting, but they never say what kind of paint to use. I wonder if the standard interior paint sold by various vandors will work, or if a special enamel is needed.

  • I,ve been contemplating the same thing. I think that a baked enamel would do the job well. Have to check if it will fit in the oven. Probably best done when the wife is at work.

    Cheers, Tony

  • I can tell you from experience that anything that hardens good will do.Devcon or JB WELD etc. will work but several companies sell stuff just for that job.Get you some quality base coat and do alot of prep and wheel will turn out great.Need a super good enamel clear coat as I've done alot of them with NO problems. The shine will tone down with alittle driving so leave shine alone....Good Luck
