Hi Jack,
Work has just been mad, thought I would just throw something on as I was nodding off with computer on my lap. Anyway,I am asking $35000.00 Aus(very reasonable for a good stang down under). Numbers on engine, door & vin all match 5R07K125346. It was put on the registry by previous owner. Has number plates HPC00P with full NSW rego till the 14 of November 2010. For two years I used as a daily driver until I replaced my old ute with something more practical. Thanks to the Phone call from Tony, he lives on the North Shore Sydney. Always good to talk with someone who shares the passion.

Have spotted another Mustang I would like to own. To finance I will need to sell my beloved K Code Coupe that I have owned for 5 years. Would like to sell it to someone on this forum who appreciates a genuine HiPo, so it is not yet advertised elswhere. If interested email tony289k@tpg.com.au or phone 0412438576.
Cheers Tony
I like the colour too. Must be an Aussie thing.
Hope there is a K display, I am travelling from Australia and unable to bring my K along. My ride will be a 2009 rental Mustang. Sure would be great to meet some of you guys face to face. Cheers Tony
I bought and original 65 black rally pac. Installed it and it works, Tacho is accurate to about 3000rpm then gives up trying and the clock seems to be trying to make up for the Tacho as it is fast. Thinking of getting a repro myself for accurracy. From what i've read on this Forum, the repros tend to be more reliableand accurate. Go the repro I say, less hassles and if it doesn't work take it back. Cheers Tony
Didn't mean to upset Auto owners. I've owned auto's myself and loved them. However, I'm glad my Hipo is a manual. Especially when I am throwing it around those Mountain road bends.
As a fellow Ozzy, I doubt that the rubbish they sell us and call fuel has enough Octane in it to cause a fire.
An auto Trans. in a K Code. Wouldn't that suck the fun out of driving a HiPo?
Hello Ray,
Have you been on the forum before? Anyway welcome and enjoy you're new ride. Remember, it was made to be driven and we have plenty of sunny days here in OZ, drive often enjoy it. Cheers Tony.
Ashley,
Welcome on board hope you get you're K code. Cheers from Tony in Wollongong NSW
Being in W.A. you are even more isolated than the rest of us in OZ. I suppose that anything that lands on the East coast from the U.S.A. will cost around another $1500 to transport W.A. Around 4 years ago I sold my 68 C code coupe, I intended to wait a few months before buying another Stang. We had just moved it a new home and didn't even have I driveway yet. I was just browsing one day on carsales for mustangs 64-66 when I came across a K code coupe for sale. Anyway I jumped into my old ute and drove to the Entrance which is North of Sydney. As soon as I drove her I was hooked. Put down a deposit then went home and layed down just enough pavers to drive her into the garage.
Don't give up. Chase the dream and live it, life is too short. Wednesday I'm flying to Brisbane to look at a 65 Falcon sprint convertible. Next April I am planning a trip to Vegas for the Mustangs Across America cruise on Route 66. Still don't know how I will pay for all of this but I am determined.
As for selling you're A code. Classics usually take a long time to sell, it's only a very small percentage of the market that are looking. Most of the market are looking at Klugers and Corollas(yuk). You have to be prepared to wait it out. Carsales, carpoint, Ebay, and the Stang clubs are a good start. Sent pics to OZ guys on this site as they may know someone in the market. Cheers Tony.
Hi Pala,
Where are you in OZ. I'm in Wollongong NSW. If you are close by maybe you can check out my 65K so you know what to look for. Wouldn't mind checking out you're coupe. tony289k@tpg.com.au
Cheers Tony.
Please check timing first. Reason being that when I first bought my K I got all keen and tuned it to manufacturers specs. I found timing to be a little retarded so I advanced it to where it should be. After doing this my car developed the same symptoms your’s has. Now in the 60’s when these car were built octane levels were higher (at least that’s the case in Australia) so the factory specs would have been correct. Now you’re car has just been tuned. I suggest retarding the timing say 2-3 degrees then try driving the car and see if that fixes the problem. It’s a 5 minute job to rule out timing, carby rebuilts are costly and time consuming. Cheers Tony.
I meant to ask if the car has been repainted as I’ve come across this before. Paint is not a very good conductor. Keep in mind that headlights draw a lot of current, and everything probably works fine with the headlights off. Anyway, good luck. Tony
The fact that these problems have come up after a tune makes me suspicious. You’re first symptom was high idle, a faulty coil or condensor would most probably cause hard starting and/or misfiring not high idle. A vacuum leak would cause high idle and possibly cause starting problems. Now if the mechanic connected up a vacuum meter for engine diagnostics he may have left something disconnected. Could be that the mechanic has advanced the timing too much ( I think this is the most likely), this will cause you’re engine to idle higher when coming to a stop and it will make the car harder to start. In fact, if the car cranks slowly as though it has a flat battery when engine is hot, then the timing definitely is too far advanced. Also, bad fuel could give these symptoms, have you changed service stations? Failing all this, then as already suggested, Carby is the problem. Hope this helps you Troy. Cheers Tony
From symptoms I would be very surprised if the earth behind cluster is the problem. I believe that you're headlight earth(should be next to headlight connectors behind front bumper) is faulty. When lights are turned on they are trying to find an earth return elsewhere,ie. through wiring harness and probably to the earth behind you're dash(so it must be ok). I thinking that you probably have dash lights illuminating that should not, and they are not at full brightness. Also check other main earths particularly on firewall.Cheers Tony
Honest mistake. I am the Tony who has the other K. The clutch in mine is still fine. Cheers Tony
These are all very valuable suggestions. However, before going to the expense of changing all these parts, I would suggest checking and cleaning all you're earth points. Many electrical faults such as the one you described occur simply because the negative is not making good enough contact to the the chassis. Cheers Tony
