Mine is presently finished in a kind of natural aluminum sort of color, should it be the gold anodised (sp) like I've sen on some cars?
Color of 1965 Alt. spacer?

If it's solid steel, it should be like a brownish-black plating. If it has a slot on the bottom and is aluminum, it would have been a yellowish gold, like zinc dichromate or gold cadmium.
AMK has a pretty nice repro of the steel spacer.

Charles, Thanks as always for the info!
My car being a Late July 1965 production at Dearborn-what would it have most-likely had from the factory?
-
I can't say for sure, but would install the steel one unless you find compelling evidence that the other was used.

OK, Great!!! Thanks! thats what I'll do then.
Did the gold one show up later-say in 1966 production? I think that I've seen the gold ones on several '66s...

I don't know when the aluminum started in production, off-hand. Would have to look through docs and photos.
