    I've heard of it happening to many early I6 owners (myself included). The motor mount on the driver's side breaks allowing the engine to lift up and the throttle rod catches on the exhaust manifold and hangs the throttle wide open.

    Fortunately, the lapse is only momentary because when the load on the engine decreases, its weight forces the rod out of the crevice on the manifold.
