I just bought a RAM clutch kit from Mustangs Unlimited for my 65HIPO. Its part number 8850501 and advertized as a 10 1/2 inch clutch. I look at the box and it says its 10.4- what gives? Is the 10.4 correct or just something this company feels is usable as a replacement?

If this part is wrong, does anyone know of another major retailer who sells the correct size kit? Thanks for your help.

I would be careful not to jump the gun on this or any similar date code topics. I would guess that you would need more than that handful of cars with various dates to confirm this either way. From whats been referenced as proof it wouldn't be considered "statistically significant" in the real world by a long shot (8 or so cars mentioned out of how many made?). I wouldn't assume one way or another is wrong or correct without a much larger sample based on the number of cars built/ tranny code. Sadly, in my business its sometimes the one who yells the loudest that gets a change made when their position could only represent a small fraction of the majority (thats not as vocal).

    Hello Everyone,

I have a Feb 65 hipo car. I am coming to the conslusion that I am never going to be able to find or afford a correct engine for it so I have decided that I will at least get the correct Tranny! If you have a HEH-BX toploader you would be willing to sell let me know. Please send me an email at lincolnlife@yahoo.com and let me know what your looking to get. Thanks for your help. Chris..

    Hello Everyone,

I recently bought a K-Code driveshaft on ebay and when I got it, it didn't have any balancing weights on it. I checked the 5 other old non-k mustang driveshafts I have and all of them have weights. Can anyone tell me if this is junk? I have never heard of a shaft without balancing weights. Thanks for your help. Chris..

Hello All- there is a K-code fastback project car out on ebay right now- I was thinking about throwing a bid out on it- can someone check the rear end bumper plate on the underside of the trunk pan- thats a good tell tale sign correct? I loaned out my hipo book and can't remember!

I have been reading up on Hi-po's and trying to discover variations and I noticed everything says that HIPO's came with the quick ratio 16:1. The HIPO book only mentions HCC-AX but my Mustang Red Book also lists a HCC-AW also as a quick ratio box for 65. I have also seen a K-code with the AW box- it sounds like HIPO's in 65 then could have the HCC-AX or HCC-AW box.

Hello, This is my first post to this site so here it goes. I have a February 1965 fastback HIPO shell. I need a complete correct engine, toploader and 9inch rear. I prefer it to be in the north east but will consider anything. I would love to find some of this stuff so I can maybe have a running car by the end of summer. Please email me what you have an how much you want or call me. Thanks Chris 860-997-2779.:D
