You may be right, I don't completely recall. I know the counter weight was for the rod bolts, just been to long to remember about the damper interchanges.

I want to know how RB can see the 19 on those heads. I haven't been able to see them?

Are you planning on building one yourself, or swapping 3rd members?

Changing gears isn't rocket science, but experience and finese really helps (knowing what to look for).

Whatever you do, make sure you break in a new gear set properly. That is where 90% of the people with read end noise have their problems, even if it is set up perfectly. Taking it out and "trying it out" to see how fast it goes now will waste a new gear set.

Richmond has an excellant letter on proper Break-In.

Just because it has the wrong bolt on "tins" like the fan doesn't mean someone couldn't have transplanted a Hi-Po engine into it at some point in the last 43 years.

It's more likely those are re-pop open letter valve covers than those heads aren't HiPo heads if RB could see the "19" on the castings. And there is no denying that balancer is NOT a standard 289 balancer.

Looks like a 65 K-code Fuel Pump too?

I normally don't get excited about black, but that is one peeeerrrrtttyyy Black Coupe.

Never heard of such a thing with a 9"? There is a ton of adjustment in a 9" rear end with the side spanner nuts to adjust backlash.

Pinion depth is set with shims behind the pinion support bearing. And we are talking adjustments in thousands of an inch for big changes in the marking pattern.

Let me put it another way...If you were to order a new bare carrier from Currie, Strange, Reider, etc. they would not ask you to specify for what gear ratio. 2.73 to 5.13...and anything in between to the best of my knowledge.

I have a copy of Tony's 289 Book and Bob's Small Block Ford book.

If you are local to me (I'm downriver), you are free to borrow both to use as a study guide (no way you could order both and get them in time, but you should buy both when you get a chance).

Or you can look my car over and we can point things out comparing to the books so you know what to look for.

Took the K to Milan Dragway for the NMRA nationals. I showed mine, my wife raced her 07 GT/CS.

I did meet a guy that is an original owner 65 K Fastback driver. He says "It's just a car" And he's upgrading it and using it. Modern front end, read discs, etc. He doesn't like what has happened to classic car prices and how people treat them like stocks now instead of driving them.

I tried to guide him to registering it, not interested. He knows of it and Tony's book, which I carry a copy of.

I met another original owner that has one out in a field that was a drag car it's whole life. He says it has no floor and was never a street car. He said mine didn't have the right front brakes? Oh well, whatever. Kool guy to talk with though. He now runs a 8 sec 4.6L modern Mustang. He may register his VIN though, he took the site info down and thumbed through Tony's book.

Anyone remember that guy I ran into last summer with the (2) GT350s and the garage full of shelved K motors? Saw him last weekend too while I had the car at my daughter's karate school where the GT350s are next door.

He liked the kar a lot and loved the 60's appearance. Nice guy, won't budge on any K parts though.

On the other hand, when I came out of the school to take a cell call, THERE WAS A GUYING LEANING ON MY HOOD

    <img src=images/icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle>

He was all laid back, hand on his hip, butt on my hood and a hand on the scoop?!?! Then I was the jerk in his eyes for asking him very politely to not lean on the car unless he was buying it.

I tell you, 10 years ago I would have acted first then talked. So much for all the "respect" the instructor preaches to this guys kids at karate. He should listen to it sometimes. Now him and another parent make jokes about "excuse me" everytime I am at the karate school. Nice way for a parent to act <img src=images/icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

Guys like that sure make the decison to sell so much easier. Can't even take the Kar 2 miles on a Saturday morning without same a$$hat ruining my day.

    Thanks for that update.

I am willing to bet there are 1000's of Mustang owners around the globe dealing with the same thing after buying China's finest repop Steel Wheels.

I have 3 66 and a 67 rim. I plan to make the 67 a spare and use my new repop 66 for the car. But this worries me. If they can't road force it to work I'll have to go back to the wider 67 rim.

I do not want to put a car on the market that is not right nor not enjoyable to drive. I just got back from a 80 mile ride and other than melting from the heat, it rides smmmoooottth and soft. But I am sure the American Racing wheels and Firestone radials help.

Thanks again for your steady updates.

I'm starting to think fleabay IS NOT the place to sell classic cars of any value lately.

Seems there have been so many scams, that the people that can afford to buy a 6 digit car aren't going to bother bidding against tire kickers. They can buy it when they find the one they want, why screw around with fleabay? That General Lee phoney bid really scared people off.

I know of a lot of cars that were worth more than they got bid up to. My Kar is going in a magazine in India. A coworker has a brother that is an editor. He brought a copy in. It's like MotorTrend, but in India. He says that is the next Japan. They have built a dragstrip and are buying up American Muscle Cars like they are crushing them over here.

So, my K code could end up in India. Maybe the next time I need support from Dell the guy I am talking to would be looking to buy a Mustang <img src=images/icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

Need a spacer to install my Autolite 4100 onto a cast iron intake. If you have one to sell, please contact me. Please, no spacers with sorry attempts at porting them out or rotted away from corrosion.

    THANKS! <img src=images/icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
