I was thinking about these. They are 1.602 compression height too. I need pistons with clips because my hipo rods have been made into floaters. The eyebrows are slightly large than stock but not enough to kill compression, especially with heads that will get a resurfacing for good measure and peace of mid when all the other work is done to them.

What's the best modern piston that has similar valve reliefs to the HiPo? I see a lot with huge valve reliefs like 12cc

Anyone know the number for the crankshaft timing gear?
If you are seeking an NOS Ford crank sprocket, I have one in stock. I have good used ones as well. The camshaft sprocket varies with the build date and change level of your Kar. I have both of them. I also have an NOS Ford timing chain.

That's lazy as Hell if the coupe is numbers matching. There are plenty of HiPo motor parts and some complete motors for sale.

New old stock Ford parts and sometimes used Ford parts are offered on eBay®. There is a thread that follows offerings for crank timing gears on this site. Cloyes® sold new replacement parts through at least 2008 but I do not know if they still do.
Cloyes brand service replacements I have used:
S350 Camshaft Sprocket
S351 Crankshaft Sprocket
C358 Timing Chain
Appendix I in Bob's book itemizes engine part applications and numbers for them.

Did you click the ebay link in my previous post? Is that the early or later style cam sprocket in the ebay ad? I have the book but couldn't find that. It's hard to search in PDF form because each chapter is a separate file.

It is also probable that you are only showing these parts to us that you made a good deal on. The camshaft retainer plate and spacer are for the early Hipo 289. They only work with the early camshaft sprocket which is before change level 7.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood me. I got all of it for $80. I'm not trying to sell them.

Besides heavier front coils & steering box, is anything else different on a K car?
It is not just that the front coils are heavier, they are also shorter changing the ride height lower than standard Mustangs. The rear leaf springs are also heavier but lower overall for the same effect as the front coil springs.

Math: My car does have the correct toploader but I can't read the date either. The steering box jives date wise with an April 6, 1965 date code. One thing though, it decodes as a PS box and my car is manual.

Thanks Jim. This is sort of what I figured. So my doors are dated dated April 7 and 11th. My door data plate is gone so I have no build date. If I got a block and heads with Feb or March dates, I should be in good shape then?

Which would be an earlier date code, the engine/trans or the sheetmetal? What would be the max # of days they would be apart?
