Proud to report a success story locating a hipo 289 engine after owner (Darren Beasley) reached out to me to record the vin in my kcode database. It was a 6R09K vin so I contacted Howard Pardee (SAAC Registrar) who confirmed it belongs to a 1966 Shelby GT350. Mr. Pardee put me in contact with the GT350 owner (Damon) and I was able to link up the two parties.
This is why I have a database. These wins are very rare but I’m a believer the more vins I record the higher the likelihood we can have more success stories like this.
Congratulations to the GT350 and hipo 289 owners tonight.

Hi all, a guy I know has had a k-code fastback for 30 years sitting in his garage and he's looking to sell. He claims it has all the k-code specific parts, but I'm curious what are some things I should be looking for to confirm this? It's a running driving black fastback so it's not a rust bucket, but obviously not perfect. I'm an early Bronco guy so I'm not as familiar with these Mustangs.

This toploader has been found. Of note: photo of the vin stamp is on the tail flange. Always good to find another Metuchen stamped part to dispel any rumors Metuchen wasn't vin stamping blocks/transmissions.
