Interesting.....any others with patched together K's from SJ?

Still interested in people's view of the font. I've found pictures of other VIN's some from this site that make me think all but the K look good?

    Cheers

    Thanks guy's

Fender VIN's are 90% visable from the under side and its in the registry, original steel everwhere except the bonet.

You have come up with the same points I had. The "K" set off alarm bell's, but from other photo's I've found the font seemed pretty good.

The K on the block is fine and I would say the font is the same as the transmission?

    Cheers

    Hi Everyone

Firstly great site and thankyou to all those who contribute. I've been watching and learning waiting for the day I could own my own K code. Think I've found quiet a good Kar everything seems in order except for the clone carby.

Anyway I'm at the point where I would like people's opinions on the transmission VIN stamping as I'm finding it hard to learn how to spot the real thing. All three fender VIN's are good and the block is stamped also, haven't managed to get a good block photo as the stamping is very faint.

    Thanks in advance

    Ben.

Been forsale for a little while and the price is coming down. Numbers matching or not that seems like a good price in Australia for a Kar. I know c codes that present about as well in photos go for that much.

    Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have a good photo or details of the mounting tab below the master cylinder for the top spring. My z bar has the top hole with wear marks but all I have on the firewall is the slit?

I'm confident the III will do its job very we'll. The Rally Pac being happy is the question.

I've seen supposed email from Pertronix saying basically its not possible for the Rally Pac to work, but on the other hand I've heard from owners that say its working on their vehicle and not even feeding 12v to the coil or module!

Guess it comes down to quality of wirng...

    G'day Everyone

I know this topic has been done to death, but after reading everything I could find for a week. I just seem to be going in circles making a decision!

My car long before I got it has been running a Pertronix ignitor 1 and standard coil with the resistor wire in place. Not the fastest starter but its ok, performance has been fine and Rally pac functioning. Anyway my coil died the other week and since the new coil has been in I've noticed some hesitation, so its been put to me the ignitor may have suffer some damage when the coil went.

So I figure I have 3 choices as I like the stock look:

    1) Just get a new ignitor 1 and hopefully every thing will return to normal and be happy with that.

    2) Upgrade to the ignitor 2 so I have adaptive dwell, keep the resistor wire but get a 12v source to the ignitor module.

    3) Upgrade to the ignitor 3 which I really like because it has rev limiter and multi spark. Only problem with this is the rally pac as it seems I would need 12v at the coil then. A lot of people say they have had a rally pac on 12v for years! Now that maybe one thing but will the rally pac be happy with multi spark?

All I really need is someone who can confirm running ignitor 3 with an original rally pac and how it was done?

    Cheers

Maybe I'm to sentamintal, but have regreated selling every car I have ever had.

Things may get cheaper if the recovery from the GFC doesn't pickup. But ~33K for a fastback doesn't sound bad with every thing you have mentioned about the car so far.

All you need to decide is if you want a blue k code fastback. Them by all means push the current owner on the currently falling prices because of the GFC and be happy with what you pay as you will recover the cost if you keep it for a while.
