This used AUTOLITE distributor was SOLD for $134.05 by eBay seller "ggt500".
DESCRIPTION:
This auction is for a 289 Ford Autolite HiPo Dual point distributor. **Please** look at pictures very closely because there is a hole on the side just under were the cap would mount. Unit is still very useable.
I just wish there was a way to find out if that car is in fact still around and not destroyed.
What I find incredible is the pristine condition this block and pistons are in. It had to of come from a very low mileage vehicle.
A pristine block with low mileage strongly suggests the possibility of a salvage situation, ie: the original car was crashed and totalled a long time ago, and the drivetrain was saved for some future use.
Re-listed for the 3rd time. Got up to $43k last time, and reserve not met. I'd think there's not going to be that much more interest in it the 3rd time.
That's right, Charles. Bidding stalled out at only $35,000 this time, with fewer bidders involved. The auction has been cancelled because "The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale".
Quote from C6ZZKGTI have a 65 Falcon Ranchero "A" code 4 speed car. My understanding is that only the Ranchero was available in a 4V configuration.
-Fred-
That's right, Fred. Rancheros could be ordered with the A code 4V 289 in 1965, but all other V8 Falcons only came with 2V carburetors. In 1966, Falcon finally offered the A code 4V option in all other models, and continued to offer it for 1967 as well.
I'm always amazed at how popular the Ford Mustang is throughout the world, and I'm glad to know there is a Ford Mustang Shelby Club de France...
It's really great to have members posting here from places beyond North America!
Very nice! Thanks for the picture.
Quote from raccolAs many of you know, the eKschange db got corrupted today somehow. We lost a couple of day's worth of posts.
So sorry.
Thanks for the info, Hank. I thought something like that happened...
Hi Mike. Thanks for the post. It's good to have another member from PA.
What part of PA are you located in?
Quite an interesting find, and in such an unlikely location to boot. I wonder why it was rebuilt if the original internals were not worn?
Quote from round2KIs that the small damper?
Yes.
Quote from round2KI haven't ever heard of one that was unbreakable, but there are window film products you can put over glass.
I've seen more than a few cracked and broken mirrors at shows. A sudden gust of wind is all it takes to do the damage to the thinner, cheap variety of glass mirrors.
It would be interesting to have a gathering with the BOSS 302 Mustangs. Afterall, the 289 High Performance engine blazed the path that the BOSS 302's followed. Hearing all those solid lifters clattering under the hoods would be great.
Nice going to everyone who's K car has been featured in a book or magazine. I wonder how many other of our members cars have also been featured?
Is it possible to have an Assembly Date of Mar. 2, 1966 but have a Mar. 8, 1966 date on the steering box?
Sure...assuming your "assembly date" is actually the scheduled build date stamped on your Warranty Data Plate.
Quote from CharlesTurnerVery nice car, but they didn't have to add pony or GT stuff to it. It would have been a perfectly nice car without that.
Quite right...
Quote from mmv1966hipoI posted a question about fuel pump engineering numbers, but I may have deleted it.
The original post wasn't deleted. It was moved to the teKnical Section and can be found in the Research Forum. An answer is posted there. Please post questions like this in the appropriate place.
Quote from CharlesTurnerTo get it to the 1 of 1, the final line was "1 sent to the southeast... this is that car"
Exactly...Every car is "one of one" when you factor in all the minutia, especially if you include the particular dealer, and the date the car is delivered.
I was bidding on these heads, but quit at $700.00 They are now $1000.00. A few months ago, you could have bought a good set of heads for $500 to $600.
While that may be true, prices for most new and used HiPo parts on eBay have varied wildly over the years. One thing that seems to drive the prices paid is the date code(s) of the part(s). If the date code matches the vintage a particular bidder needs for a restoration, the maximum price that person will pay is usually a lot higher than we would expect.
The car's been RELISTED HERE.
With no less than 63 bids from 12 different people in the first auction, there seems to be some interest in this car. Current high bid is now $27,101.00...
Thanks for an informative post, Dan.
