Your scheduled date is within the time frame for the Arvinode dual exhaust system. You can confirm this by examining the location of the holes in the rear frame rails that are used to mount the clamps that support the resonators. The Arvinode system locates the holes several inches forward compared to the later dual system that superceeded it, and likely won't have the reinforcement tubes inside the frame rails. San Jose cars switched over from the Arvinode system around April 4th, 1965.

I am establishing a cutoff date of April 30, 2009 for sending in fuel pumps to be rebuilt on this extra run... The rebuilder called me about a week ago and wanted to know what I had going. It was good to hear from them as that means that they are still in business and want this job.

Wow! That's really great news, Fred. Those who didn't get their pumps restored in the first run still have time to get in on this special opportunity.

Eric, The road draft tube for a Hipo from the valve cover is unique to a 65 Hipo only. It is a tough piece to find if you needed one. The standard cars had a different shape for that tube. I am sure that Gene would love to see a good couple of pictures of your tube as he needed one for his Kar.

I looked around for quite a while, and even Fred couldn't help me obtain one. I found an NOS HiPo tube years ago that was perfect, except it wasn't correct for my kar. Unfortunately, it was the version that connected to the back of the intake manifold, and not the valve cover version I need. Since I couldn't use it, I had to return it for a refund. I finally landed a used one that the previous owner had chrome plated! It actually looks great with the stock chrome valve covers, but it probably won't pass muster with the MCA judges... ;)

Have to agree with Gene; the rest of the system is almost as hard to find NOS as that other weird K code exhaust:)

The auction ended with NO bids and a fairly low number of "hits" on the listing counter. For those who would like to see pictures of the whole system, NOS, check this out:

Back in October of 2006, this one was bid up to $810.10 with a no sale ending. The seller had a buy it now price of only $3500.00...

...should I seek out someone who knows these cars, (and) is a certified appraiser locally to do a hands and eyes on appraisal??

That's exactly what I would recommend. I'm sure there are certified and qualified appraisers in Florida who can work with you. If you need help finding one, check with the members of your local MCA club, and see if they can give you some referrals. Having a bona fide professional appraisal is well worth the cost, and helps establish proof of value when insuring any classic car.

There are those of us who don't have the expertise to help with the technical side of this effort...its beyond me and, I'm guessing, beyond others as well. The costs are a mix of financial and time/technical effort.

That's exactly right...It's a good guess that better than 95% of all internet users have no clue about website design, HTML code, Java/Dhtml scripts, etc, or how to debug and fix problems that happen on websites and computers. We are indebted to those few who have the knowledge and expertise to go beyond the templates and standard applications that are required to make the website work properly.

I e-mailed him when he first placed the ad before anybody read it or responded asking about crank and got NO response?

Since the body of the original post does not contain the seller's email address, you probably attempted to use the email link found in the member's information section. Unfortunately, that email function hasn't worked for some time now due to a "server change" beyond our control which has unintentionally disabled site-generated emails...In the meantime, the PRIVATE MESSAGE function is working just fine, and it enables MEMBERS to communicate through the site discretely.

So far, the email problem hasn't been completely solved yet, but it is under investigation. You can read more about it HERE.

I do not see a date other than the dial code on the right side. Maybe late 1963, or 1964, not sure. Any information on the date would be appreciated. The carb to me looks to be in great shape.
