Anyone use Jet-Hot Coating on their exhaust headers? Do you recommend the ceramic coating? It seems like a very durable coating that is sure to reduce the overall exhaust temperature.

You guys are sharp. Different state and different color primer, but sure looks like the same car. The growing list of disparities only adds to the questionability of the K status and now whether the car is actually a 66 or a rebodied 65.
Cleaning up my 65 motor mounts and cannot find whether the mounts are painted black or left natural.

The same code is used for 1965 and 1966 for black pony - code 66.
I also had a fastback with code F6 white with black appt. that was very nice.
Is that the factory location/installation for the rear seatbelts?

Sure - No problem. I want to try to preserve as much documentation as possible, especially as we have previously discussed the HEH-T vs HEH-BX anomaly. This is a June 65 built car.

Time to replace the rear main seal, but I have never done one before.
Any of you guys know how to do this? From some research I have done it says that I do not have to pull the crankshaft while other info says that it may be necessary. What is the best way?

This is an old topic, but wanted to add what I found on my drive shaft today. I purchased the car from the original owner so it has a lot of the original markings, but unfortunately hard to see.
First stripe is yellow located approximately 3" from the end of shaft. The stripe is 3/4" wide.
Second stripe is 7 3/4" from the end of the shaft and approximately 1/2 inch wide. Cannot make out what the color is, but probably green.
Additionally pics of trans and various markings.

Dave - nice work. I hope mine turns out like that. When the part is required to be a natural finish and you media or sand the piece back to origial specs, how do you keep it from rusting? Do you use a clear coat over the top?
I want to detail my engine compartment so thought it would be best to pull the engine and trans together. I believe the rear main seal needs replacing so will do that too. While I am at it, I should go ahead and turn the fly wheel and replace the clutch. This is as bad as adding new curtains to your home! Wish me luck.
I was cleaning up my oil pressure sending unit and noticed a F5 stamped in the brass fitting and some type of marking on the top. Did they date code the oil pressures units as my car is a June built car or is this marking on all the original units?

I can think of a couple of possibilities about your car for you consideration. The first and most practical (for originality) is that somewhere along the way the car was hit on the driver side and enough damage sustained that the original VIN stamped apron had to be replaced or was replaced because of significant rust. This can be an easy fix by ordering another apron and restamping. However, the passenger side VIN stamped apron should be original and in place so that you are able to verify that the restamp matches the original VIN numbers. The other possibilities are rebody from original GT car, front clip replacement or numerous combinations leaving a very questionable K car. Were you able to verify the other VIN stamps on the passenger side apron as original?
