Quote from poboy427Anyone have an idea what this radiator is? Any history on the soldered alphabet 3/8" square tag like mine and Brant's?
Anyone know if under the soldered tag is an embossed letter being covered up?
When I first saw the 6-65 radiator Brant now owns, I had never seen anything like that. Since then I have seen, or heard of, three others including the 6-64 one Ray has.
Quote from poboy427Display MoreWhere is that 10/65 radiator you used to own now that I need it.
Isn't that the way it goes.
Any idea if the guy that bought it actually installed it? Maybe he just sat it back and burnt out on the project. No such luck huh.
The pic that Round2K sent me looks like 12 64 if my magnifing glass serves me correctly and it has the C4ZE Y2 stamping.
Ray
The 10-65 radiator is going in a 66 early Hertz GT350, traded it for the 2-66 which now sits in my car.
I agree, the date in Dave's pic is 12-64.
Not sure when the C4ZE and Y2 (or other designation) stamping was eliminated from the San Jose radiators but believe it was before Sept. '65. My 2-66 rad does not have those stamps, neither did the 10-65 rad I used to own. I've seen a 9-65 without them as well.
I think it would be fairly easy to figure out when the stampings were dropped with some more input from others on this site.
This quote is from a set currently on ebay:
"We did not bother to make the rear main cap because it is almost identical to the non Hi-Po cap and very difficult to machine with the seal surface."
I checked it out this morning, looks to have a new format. I was able to login without any problems....
This thread from the archives has some discussion on the pad size:
Thanks Fred!
+1. The Alloy Metal harnesses are excellent.
Quote from C6ZZKGTThe "B" suffix is a 29/32" cylinder. If the article listed the "A" suffix as a 29/32" cylinder, the article is incorrect. The "A" suffix is definitely a 15/16" cylinder.

Thanks Fred. The Ford MPC I have (65-72) doesn't list anything different for 65-66 GT350 rear cylinders, which isn't too surprising, just shows C3OZ-B for all V8's. Do you (or anyone) have documentation showing the 65-66 GT350 used the 15/16" C3OZ-A? I realize all the other parts are Fairlane station wagon stuff and it makes sense the cylinders would be too, just looking for documentation on that. I still have my original cylinders but they were previously honed and rebuilt, not sure how accurate a measurement would be but will try to find them and give it a shot.
Thanks,
Dave
Just ran across an article in an early issue of "The Shelby American" (Vol. 4, Number 5, October 79) that has some conflicting info on 65-66 GT350 brakes. It lists the following:
- C3OZ-2261-B Cylinder Assay, Rear Brake, R.H., 29/32 dia, (2 white dots)
- C3OZ-2262-A Cylinder Assay, Rear Brake, L.H., 29/32 dia, (2 white dots)
Based on the discussion here the RH suffix (
and both bore diameters are wrong, is that correct?
Quote...It had the "stars" before and after and was the same font size as the original...
That's what's interesting about the car in question, the new stamp is a larger size font and no star. Don't know if that's significant or not.
But I do know a little something about the 6R09K178532 VIN on this car. That fastback DID exist at one time and I'd be interested in finding out what happened to it.
Here is the link: http://www.hipomustang.com/hpmx/topic.asp…e&TOPIC_ID=5499
One post in the archive topic shows a picture with 6R07K182294 stamped in the normal visible location. There are no stars on either side of the VIN plus IMO it looks larger than normal. Below that stamp is what looks like 6R09K178532 with the correct stars and a "V" to either side of the stars. I could be mistaken but remember reading somewhere that the "V" was a salvage stamp? IMO this is not a factory misstamp because the sequence numbers are so far off. I'm guessing at least part of this coupe was clipped with a fastback front end.
Does the 6R09K VIN appear anywhere else?
The original HiPo alternator pulley on my late March 66 SJ car was (still is) black.
All Shelbys have front disc brakes. I'm pretty sure the rear brake cylinders for 65-66 GT350 are the same as other V-8 Mustangs.
Fred, sent you a PM. Dave.
Thanks Jeff. Do you have the VIN for the 05C build date engine?
Quote from jwc66kIt would also be appropiate for the date of the heads to be earlier than the engine assembly date stamped on the 'boss' near the distributor which is more accurate than the car's scheduled assembly date.
Jim
Agreed. Of course the engine assembly date is only helpful if you still have the original block...![]()
Quote from J_SpeegleFrom a spread sheet I'm playing with here are some examples of spreads from San Jose cars, since the spread would be different IMHO different plants due to shipping distances
Jeff, I'm fairly certain the scheduled SJ build date for 6S1757, Ford VIN 178xxx, is March 29. Do you have any block casting date or engine assembly date data for cars near that?
Thanks,
Dave
Quote from BoSDisplay MoreSome summers ago, I was bringing my 65 Shelby to a cruise night here in the Dallas, TX area. When I started the car in the garage, there was a lizard about 7-8" long that sat on the passenger side floor.
We looked at each other and I shut the engine off and tried to grab
the animal. However, it was to quick for me and it disappeared under
the dash. Well, being late I took off and after a couple of miles at the freeway it came out and again sat at the floor. Later at the show, I left the car to look at other cars and when I came back it
was sitting between the front seats with his tail towards me.
Quickly I was able to grab it and throw it out of the car. It looked shocked and ran under the car. I chased it away to prevent it from
catching a ride back home.
Well I guess it was relocated permanently.

Bo,
I think I've seen that lizard. He probably was just trying to sell you Geico insurance. Good to know he's a Shelby fan. ![]()
Dave
My 66 has a late March San Jose scheduled build date. Both original heads are dated 6A31.
