I'm in urgent need for a nice original Ford or NOS HP 289 pistons that are .020 oversized. I have a set of 8 std sized HP pistons I can trade if needed.
-Matt
Ford only offered standard and .003 oversize pistons for the Hipo 289. Ford did not want their thin wall casting blocks bored oversize.
-Fred-
Is this the case for all years Fred?
John.
My comments were for 65/66 models for which I am familiar. I am unfamiliar with the 67 models, although I could look them up.

Very Nice Original C6ZF-C 289 HiPo Autolite Carb 1966 289 HP Mustang | eBay

I have my doubts about this carburetor being correct. There is no cast in choke fast idle cam stop, which all manual choke carburetors have. The casting date is in a shadow and unreadable. The air horn is incorrect as it has the nipple for the automatic choke fresh air supply which is cast closed on a Hipo carburetor. The air horn is also setup for a fast idle compensator to screw onto the air horn at the rear. It also has the pre 1966 steel secondary actuator arm although that is easily replaced by the correct nylon arm. Did I miss anything from just pictures?
