Restoration Autolite 4100 C6ZF-F

  • Hello,

my name is Timon and I live in Germany. As a hobby I rebuild and restore carburetors, mainly Autolites 2100/4100.

Today I have received a C6ZF-F from a friend and I want to get it as close as possible to a factory look.

What I have the most problems with is with finding the correct finishes for the parts, especially the steel parts and I wondered if anyone here has pictures of a NOS C6ZF-F or info on the finishes used.

Here is a list I have started:

    Screws:
Airhorn, Powervalve, Choke, Secondary Cover, Accelerator-Pump, Idle-RPM, nut on primary shaft: zinc blue

Booster to main body (primary and secondary): Zinc but not sure if blue or yellow

Choke plate to shaft: Black (black oxide?)

    Idle mixture: Zinc (blue?)

    Linkage parts:
Accelerator pump rod, secondary rod, choke rod: zinc but not sure if passivated?

    Choke brackets: Zinc yellow

Choke plate: Zinc (blue or yellow?)

    Throttle blades: Zinc blue

Primary throttle shaft: brass with a durable silver coating (chrome?), the steel parts on the end zinc with uknown finish, the spring zinc blue

Secondary throttle shaft: bare brass, the steel part zinc with unknown finish

Accelerator pump arm and secondary arm: zinc yellow

Zinc diecast parts: Boosters, acceleratorpump cover, powervalve cover, seoncary cover: yellow chromate finish

    Paint markings:
Secondary booster: 1 red paint mark on the "arm"?

    Primary booster: no idea

    Any more paint markings?

Here are some pictures of the carburetor. As you can see it has been rebuild some time ago and it is quite difficult to identify the original finishes and there are no paint markings left.

    Thank you!

  • I can answer most questions and help with pictures but it will have to be through email and not little text boxes here.

Not long ago I did a research project of the C6ZF-C and C6ZF-F models. I have a detailed database I still add information to.

You may get your email address to me through this site. Click on my user name and then put a comment in the "Wall" section.
