Just to let you know Ford had the Mustang HIPO housing made up with Galixe center housing with 8 inch tubes. The welding process was the same has all Ford housings. You can make up a clone rearend housing, but the welding process will be differant. The cloned rearend would be straighter than the Ford units. Because of age and use they could be bent. But most of the original housing do have numbers on them. Some have had a VIN number stamped on them. I hope this helps. Ron

Contact Sealed Power use the replacement pistons for 1987 thru 1989 Mustang H.O. forged units. The balance weight is very close and they use a very tight cylinder wall clearance. You can find them used in great condition for pennys. If you block is standard you can have them coated and save you block or buy new ones and have them coated . You should check your block first of all. They are press fit and have flat tops with four eyebrows ,which will give you the same compression. I hope this helps. Ron

The arm does not have the nub for a spring. I would rather sell it to someone on this site. I will end the auction for the right offer. I beleive you guys are right that it is a rebuilt or replacement unit. I have some other Carter pumps that have an extra reinforcement for an extra spring that could be installed on this pumps arm.

I just pulled this off a 1967 Mustang T code car with a 289 4 barrel carbed engine. I was told it came off a 1966 shelby Mustang years ago. The numbers on the pump is 4201S and a date code of 6B1 A. The 1 and 6 look a little unclear, word CARTER is on the side of the pump. I would say by what is listed Fourth Edition that it would be a replacement pump but what about the date code. Do all 4201S have the word CARbureTER on them or do some have CARTER on them also???? The engine was running. The pump made no noise. Has a little rust on it but can be cleaned up nicely. Has blue paint on it but I cleaned most of the paint off the pump. It has the BUTTON on top with the spring.I will be listing it on ebay tonight. Make offers . Thanks again! Ron 815-926-7641

Thanks for making it more clear. This should help when the next book is done. It would be nice if all of owners that have K Mustang's should inform Marv what system you have and then we could see if it was due to which plant it was built. I know the engines where complete and tested before they where shipped. I hope we could add this info with the next HIPO Book. Bob thanks for helping out. I just never saw a 1965 Mustang HIPO with a road draft tube. Lets see what plants did use the road draft tube or a PCV system. Thanks! Ron

Ok thats great. What is your date code on the intake? So what if it is a early date code. I don't care when the engine was built. All I'am saying is check the date code and it will confirm everything. You will then know that Ford used the parts they had at hand when that car was built. The parts at that plant may of been shipped there 6 months early, and they used those first. I'am not saying your car is not correct. You don't have to prove nothing to me just to yourself. What was built at that plant before Mustangs? Posible Fairlanes, Comets, or Falcons? Does the road draft tube exit right above the H-pipe or go around it? My 64 1/2 Mustang 260 coupe road draft tube went around the Y-pipe but hit the H-pipe when I put duals on it. Just giving info about my two Hipo cars. Ron

You may want to check your date code on your intake. did you buy the car NEW? And it was the Law in all states to have a PCV system for the 1965 year. Not just Califorina and New York. My Feb 1965 Hipo had a PCV system and it has a DSO of 53 Kansas City. And my DEC. built 1964 has a PCV system and its DSO is 41 Chicago,ILL. I checked with the state of ILLINOIS and they required a PCV system since mid 1963. I had a 1963 Chevy SS with a PCV system and also a 1964 late Galaxie with a 289 V8 with a PCV system. Maybe differant factorys did differant things. Maybe a Level change? But I would check your date code to make sure. The fact is in your date code on your intake! Just trying to help. Ron

I stand corrected. Your right Fred the small gears on the main gears are worn. I do machine those and it helps big time . Realy great for speed shifting. And i also lap the syncro blocker to the gear (cone area) which helps also. A little trick that Doug Nash used to do. You wil do more damage to your top loader trans by using the JUNK Ford shifter. Put a Hurst shifter in your car!!!! It has limiters so not to bind the slider.Plus saves the shifting forks. Ron

I believe you have that wrong. I have never seen a road draft intake that had a date code that was built for any 1965 Hipo engine, starting with Sept. 1964. And both of my 1965 Hipo's Dearborn Built had the plate with NO hole. They both had PCV system. The PCV hose was connected to the rear vacuum port in the back of the intake. All 65's had a PC system it was the LAW! And all 1965 HIPO valve covers had a PCV port. All 64 1/2 had road draft tubes except California DSO cars. I have seen San Jose cars with the PCV system using the spacer with the hole just like the do with the A code 289. I hope this helps. Ron

I need a set of 1965 Mustang Hipo mounts and brackets. Also I lost my rear snubber bracket that was welded to the bottom of the body. My K was hit hard in the back along time ago and could not save the back half. The car has since been repaired with a c code back half. I still need the snubber bracket fot the nine inch rearend. ram65kfb@aol.com or call me at 815-926-7641 or 815-671-0911 Thanks. Ron

Build your own using a windshield washer container off a late model car. Put a restictor in the end of the hose and make a fitting that sprays staight into the center of the carb.Wire the pump to a micro switch that you can hook to the throttle when wide open. Or you can just run a vaccum line from the bottle to the carb port with vaccum at wide open throttle. Ron
