I have an Aug. 65 date dated engine that was std bore and appeared to be never taken apart when I found it. The polished area was on the rear counter weight, and there were 3 random "K" stamps over towards the other side of the weight. Anybody ever seen this?

I did, and that is why I dug them out and looked for the id marks.

My wheels are 15x6.5. Can anybody tell me what they are?

I hate to dis on anyone, but I see the kind of auctions that "cowboys mustang" has had in the past year or so and they all are suspect. He lists fairlane mounts as hipo and tries to deceive the unsuspecting person.....but that is just the beginning.

Can anybody tell me what to look for? I remember the wheels I have saying something, but wil have to look real hard. The dates on the wheels are 65. I got them when I purchase a 65 shelby many years ago.

I might have som KH wheels. I will measure the width and see.

Phosphate and oil is what I remember being on the ones I have seen.

the ring count on the input will give you the ratio as well. The close ratio will have 5 rings on the input, but you cannot see all of them without taking off the front bearing retainer.

The S1 intake has physically smaller runners than the S2 does. That is a little known fact, but true. Therefore the S2 intake will make slightly more power than the early intake does. The S2 intake will actually make some pretty good power. I will give some dyno results pretty soon on a 331ci hipo shelby engine I just finished.
The S1 intake came on some 289 cobra cars (the early 289 cobra cars had a small letter cobra intake with no S1MS number on them) as well as the 1965 shelby mustangs.

I was actually on the other end of the agreement, not on a mustang, but a 1971 Trans am 4 speed car.
I agreed on a price with someone, and agreed to sell it to him in 1 week. He was driving 1000 miles to get the car. Another buyer contacted me and when I told him the car was sold, he offered me $8000 more than the previous buyer. Now the cash was very tempting, but I was always brought up to honer my word, so I had to turn him down......bummer, I could have used the cash.

I am in need of this intake to finish my car. There was someone on this board that I believe has one for sale possibly, but don't remember who. Any help would be appreciated.

Sammy is my cousin (I'm pretty sure of that, we are all related in some way or another). Most of my family was from california. I have never met him, but I hear he builds a pretty fine engine.
My shop is very close to Braselton.....about 20 miles away. My shop name is Bryan Maloof Racing Inc. and also Maloof Racing engines is another name that is used frequently.
Sorry it tood so long to reply, times have been very busy lately. I am in the proccess of renovating a shop in Clarksville to relocate to.

I have built and repaired 4 different 65 Shelby trannies. All had the case the extension housing made out of cast. alum. They latest date code was aug. of 65, so I cannot make any specific comments on teh later 65 early 66 units, but I feel they too should be alum.

I have seen them on ebay from time to time, it is a hard part to find, but keep looking and you should be able to find a good used one....unless you are looking for new.

If the car is nice it is worth the money, BUT.......do your homework. Check the for the really hard to find parts such as the Carb, Dist, and intake. Those parts alone go for over $4,500us. If all the original parts are there and the car is pretty clean with little or no rust, then buy it.

The frame brackets for the hipo are lower than the std. 65 mounts. They are C4ZA #'s cast into the mounts. They still can be found at times, I just picked up a set on ebay that were advertised as std 665 mounts and even had the std. engine mounts that came with them.....got them for $125. That engine must have really sat low in the chassis.

I have a nicely restored 4JC dated Fomoco distributor if you need it, but it's going to run you $500. I was saving it for my Shelby, but found a Nov. date that fit the car more closely.

So how do I post pics?
Thanks all for the warm welcome! I actually have 3 mustangs.....the 65 I mentioned, a 67 gta S code car, and a 68 GT500 in rotiserie stage at the moment.
Thanks again, and I will post pics as soon as I find out how.

Actually, an S7MS intake is correct for 67 cars, but only later production cars. I have an early 67 shelby engine in the shop right now that has an S2 intake on it, and a 713 dated carb.
