John... sound like it. Where did you buy them. If new I would get in touch with the vendor and discuss it with them. Find out if anyone else is having this same issue.

John.... are the headers repop of the original cast iron headers? Are the motor mounts original?
Gary
Noel,
Story behind this is I am in the process of buying these parts along with a block with caps. The block and caps appear OK according to the pictures I saw. I'm in one state and the parts are in another. So, I have to rely on pictures.
What threw me a curve was the part numbers on the Rods and Pistons. I requested the seller check the numbers again and send them to me. I can see how it would be easy to transpose some numbers and letters, like you said. I think that is the case and all is good. In addition, I requested the number on the rear main. I am told this should be C3OE on a K code and C2OE on a standard 289. Thanks to Fred for giving me this info on the rear main.
Thanks for your input and help,
Gary
Ralph... I sent you an email with pictures. Let me know what you think as soon as possible.
Thanks for your help,
Gary
Can someone tell me what engine the following parts go to:
1. Rods 68AE-D
2. Pistons C4OF-61104
Any help appricated.
Gary
Nice job Dave. I hope mine turns out that nice.
Gary
Got my wheels today from Branda. Other than the fact that they sent me wheels for a 65 instead of 66 they are a great buy for the price. They are welded but the quality seems to be very good.
Gary
Dave... Thanks for that little tip. What is the best way to put the stop back in? Just go under the dash or remove the gauge housing and get to it from the top?
Gary
Greg.... You saved me a lot of work with your help. I thank you very much. I will be driving over to NPD in Ocala, Fl tomorrow and pick one up.
What really amazes me is someone would actually put pedals in a car without these parts. Oh well, good thing my son has small hands.![]()
Thanks... Gary
Greg... Thanks, that is it! Do you have any idea where I could purchase one? Also, does the brake pedal have one also?
Thanks for your help,
Gary
My clutch pedal comes up about 4" past the normal position for it. Any help with what causes this would be appreciated.
Gary
On Edit: I have found the problem. A little brace that connects to the dash with felt on it is missing. Now I have to figure out 1. How to find the part and 2. Properly installing it. Not sure if it's welded in or not.
My wheels from Branda are scheduled to be delivered on Friday. I will let you all know about the quality.
Gary
Quote from 289route66Tony Branda has a list price of $649.95 but a holiday sale price of $499.95 which includes 4 center caps and 20 lug nuts. The ad states exact repros, original style, show quality, correct paint. These are 14 x 5 size for 65 or 66 wheels. 1966 includes the trim rings. The 14 x 6 or 14 x 7 cost another $100.
Alex, thanks for this heads-up. I called Branda and told them I saw the add but didn't get the flyer and they gave me the sale price. Great people to work with.

Quote from 64ponyThis is great info as I need a replacment tag as well. Can anyone give me the contact info for Marti?
Thanks guys
Jeff, I would recommend you send the exact information you want on the tag to Marti. I did that with my engine tag and it came back perfect. Thanks to Veronica for helping me with the correct information.

Quote from CharlesTurnerThe starter will be all black with a general fading (not heavy paint) near the attaching end. Again... to ensure good ground.
Thanks very much. I think I am ready to pull the engine and clean up the engine and bay. With your help and the help of others I should be able to do a correct restore. I will take before and after pictures and post them so others hopefully may benefit from them.
Thanks Charles and Charlie for all the great information. I hope someday I can be as knowledgeable as you guys with the K.
Would the starter be natural color as well?
Gary
What color should the bellhousing be in a 1966. Also, I read a post where they talked about the engine shim. What is that exactly?
Thanks... Gary
Thanks Hank.... Same to you and all your loved ones.
