    Thanks for the info.

What is good source for Kevlar pads? Is Kevlar available for rear shoes? I'm told a material called 685 Abex (ABex?)is good for rear shoes. I believe it's a material used for heavy truck shoes.

    Hi All!

Restoration of 06F08K going well but a little slower than I'd anticipated. The car is painted and ready for re-assembly. I'd be happy to add some photos but still haven't figured out how to do this, even though there is a "button" in the Format tool bar to do so.

    What's the secret?

I have a question regarding brake pad/shoe materials. This car has no power brakes so I'd like to use pads and shoes with best material for the most effective stopping performance, cold and hot. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Thanks for the input guys!

I'm relieved to know that my Dearborn car probably didn't have a buck tag. I guess I can say it has passed all originality tests with flying colors. I have another K-Code in line for restoration that is a Metuchen car - it does have a buck tag in the correct location.

    Thanks again,

    Bill

    Hello!

We are progressing with the restoration of 6F08K. All indications, as well as confirmation from the mechanic, body shop and the engine rebuilder, show this to be a rust-free and very straight, original K-Code. It conforms with all originality tests as specified by Tony Gregory's 4th Ed. except the "Buck Tag". It doesn't have one and appears not to have ever had one, i.e., no screw holes or paint shadow where one might expect it to be. Is it possible that some Dearborn cars (convertibles) were produced without "Buck Tags"?

I had promised to post photos of our resto project and I will when I figure out how to do it on this forum. Haven't had time yet!

    Thanks for the input!

Now, I have some tougher questions for you all!

    But first, a little background.

My K-Code, in it's original guise was Code-Z Sauterne Gold Met. with a white top and Std black interior. This combo may have been okey in 1966 but, today, I think, a K-code Mustang should have a more masculine (my wife agrees) and aggressive image. To this end, I'll be changing the ext color to something darker and more dramatic with a "Pony" interior as long as it was a factory offered combo/option.

    Here are my questions:

    1. Were all 1966 Mustang interior and exterior colors (see Ditzler Index No. 10) offered on K-Code cars?

    2. Were Factory Dashpads offered in all interior colors?

    3. Where's the best source for dashpads?

Hopefully, I'll have some photos to share with you all shortly.

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Thanks, everyone!

Actually, I've been so busy getting the restoration going I've not had a chance to check this site until today.

I'll be posting a question on the Tech/Restoration page regarding K-Code exterior and interior colors. Hope somebody can help me with this!

    Regards,

    Bill

I have Art Trantafello's Interior Restortion Guide for 1964 1/2 - 1970 Mustangs. On page 75, he has indicated the correct Interior Decor Group options for the various exterior colors. For example, he lists for Raven Black ext. color the interior options of Red, Black, Emberglo and Parchment, Aqua and White, Ivy Gold and White, and Parchment w/ Black Appointments.

My questions: What is the difference between ("color" and " color") and ("color" w/ "color" appointments)? Does anyone have photos of these two color combos? Where is the best source for these interior kits?

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Hi all!

I'm new to the Mustang world. I've recently purchased 6F08K and am putting it through a complete "ground-up" restoration. It's very straight, rust-free and original. The engine and tranny (auto) have never been touched and, I'm sure, the "tags" will confirm this. It was stored for 20+ years with 2 GT coupes, a GT HiPo coupe and a Shelby GT 500KR. I'll be photographing every step of the restoration and will be happy to share info with all that are interested.
