BoS is correct. Hipo blocks are the same as other 289s. I believe some 427s don't have oil passages for hyd. lifters.

Dallas Mustang 1 800 MUSTANG ask for Kenny. You will have to send yours in. They don't have cores.

Quote from J_SpeegleWow .... got a pair of original Gabriel adjustables ? FoMoCo or Autolite ones?
In any case I don't now anyone that rebuilds them other than a replacement of the upper bushing and a paint job.
Sorry
So I quess these are hard to come buy. Where can I get new bushing. I have a set of four off my 66 Shelby.
Larry

Quote from BoSDisplay MoreLarry,
Be honest, you got your Mustangs and
your wife got hers, right?
Yours are fed with high octane and hers
with hay.
Say hi to your wife from me and Aila.

Barbara says Hi. Now if I could just bread my Mustangs like she does hers, I could quit working. Are you going to AER this year?

Quote from 66gtkMy wife hates me and my Mustang right now.
Carefull with that. Wives are one problem that will go away if ignored. Been there done that. Don't miss her at all and still have some neat cars to play with, When the new wife will let me.
Glad to hear the paint came out good.
From the title of this post " more light in the tunnel " I was afraid you had some rusty floor pans letting light in the trans. tunnel.
Have to go before the wife catches me. Larry
Quote from 1966KGTDon't say that too loud. Someone starts a rumour and the next thing you know the market will take a plunge.
Sounds good to me. I could drop insurance value and maybe buy another car.

Learn something new every day I guess. I have owner SFM6S2015 for 12 years and never new it had screw covers on it or that it should have. It has five white ones on it. I don't think the back panels have ever been out of this car. It has only 32k miles on it.

I ended up being off today too. Hope this helps. Please excuse the rust and undercoating. It's just a driver.

The tape is up against the bumper support.
Larry
Do you still need this. I may be off work Wednesday and be able to get the measurements off my Sept. 64 SJ fastback. It's an A code but I assume it will be the same,
Larry
Some one glued in the window trim on my 65 fastback. I was able to get three pieces off without destroying them but bent the lower driver side. This car is a driver only so I don't wish to spend the money for NOS. If the repop stuff is junk. Does anybody have a usable used piece they would sell? It dosen't have to be very nice, just usable.
Thanks Larry
I assembled my Autolifters by myself with the aid of a cherry-picker. Two people should have no problem.

I use a deep socket to loosen the bolt with. Back the bolt off 1/4 inch or so. Take the ratchet of the socket and put the socket back over the bolt. Tap the socket lightly with a small hammer on the end where the ratchet was. This should push the band back through the clamp a little. Loosen the bolt off a little more and repeat. This works about 99 percent of the time. I use a craftsman socket since they don't have a stop inside to keep the nut from going to the botton of the socket. Hope this make since.

From what I under stand this was done before Ford started stamping VIN #s on the blocks. Mine was the 920th HIPO made.

I have heard that too. I think there was a blurb in the Fairlaner about it. After reading it, I went out and looked at mine and sure enough it had a # stamped there. I will try to post a photo later. When the weather is a little warmer.
