What would a Hertz Shelby window sticker look like or would there even be one on a Hertz invoiced car???
It would most likely be what ever the dealership was using on used cars.
I've never heard of a Hertz owner with an original - just likely IMHO an extra step not need for these cars.
Thanks for posting....
Some of the marks are similar to others from the same period/trans
Thanks again
Quote from 65KGTConvThe Branda plate doesn't look like the one on my car. Mine has vertical ridges in the center.........
Its just the poor, small picture. The ribs are there

Bracket was painted with the engine the retainer and screw was not
Looking at the engine (from the front of the car) its attached under the bolt that attaches through to the timing cover (not through the timing cover to the block) at about 2 o'clock or to the right of the dist
Thanks for sharing
Is that a number I see on the trans top cover?
Not unusual but you have to consider that by 77 there were using different methods of marking (saw a number of names on Continentals today at a yard) Just one of the paint inspectors at that plant (not sure where 77 T birds were built)
Hood (under the sound deadener padding) and the trunk seem to be where they last the longest
Will look you up
Also consider there are some out there with original low mileage car that can use nice original parts. Many would rather use parts with a little character than incorrect NOS or repo parts..... plus used parts don't stand out againist the other parts
Quote from CSXEngThanks Fred. I'm not sure if the bolts are painted or natural that hold the spring cover on. I'll have to strip the black off the engine mounts cause they are to be natural. ..............
Looks good Dave. Those bolts should be the same as the others - natural (phosphate & oil)
Looks like your almost to that point (once the brake lines and other items are in place) to blow some sealer over the firewall openings. This is always a tough step for restorers - especially owners after all the careful pretty work. Can't remember how many I've been ask to do when the owners could not bring themselves to do it
BTW are you going to leave the master cylinder and cap natural?
Again nice work !!
Quote from C6ZZKGTThe changeover to the later 66 style housing, according to the Ford book, was on October 1, 1965. This was around the same time, November 1, 1965, that the motor mount assemblies also changed. I have a November 1, 1965 Kar that has the early style motor mount assemblies.
What Ford book would that be?
Quote from C6ZZKGTDo I have the true last day of production for the early mounts? Does anyone have a later production date Kar with the early style mounts?
-Fred-
OF course there is no way of telling when your car was built (From examples your car could have been completed in the second week of October or the end of Nov) And of course most of these "change over dates" differed depending on the plant and supply.
So IMHO it's likely you don't have a true "last day......" But no way of proving any thing
The Shelby number (in relationship to this question) may be of little help since this is a Ford related issue not Shelby. Chances are that your car may have been built around some of the others that have similar Shelby numbers. I have pictures of an original car (reported and generally appears) about 10-15 numbers before yours. Without that decal but the CU inch one is in pretty good condition.
Again it depends on where you will show it. From my involvement you are likely better off with it in place for one or more of the national judging organizations at this time
Don't forget about the small rectangular air filter part number sticker available from NPD.
Randy
Never seen one on an original 66 Shelby
Depending on where you are planning on showing the car you could leave off the AUTOLITE one also Not sure what car number you have
Yes saw the ugly tar covered ones many years ago also. Could not believe that was the replacement FORD expected people to use.
NOS- ok couldn't help but post this one below. Only one I've seen ...... they didn't carry this over the parts counter very long

If it were me I would contact Jim Cowles at http://www.shelbyparts.com/index.html. He has made some short runs in the past of correct ones
Jeff thanks for your input and correction... Got this one wrong.
Need a set of Nov 65-Jan 66 Hipo heads in good shape.
Have $$ or other dates to trade (5F8 set and a 5D28 set) Not for sale at this time
Thanks
.............
Restamping vin is difficult I would guess?????
Not at all ... takes a few minutes with the right tools. Order a new door tag and you have a "new" car or a new old car
Quote from s2ms3.89 was standard for 65-66 GT350.
With manual trans
Have you guys attempted to remove the repo can off the filter so it could be reused on another replacement filter. I'm guessing that they are using one of the short Toyota filters with the other slipped over it.
Have a FL-2 that I did this with a number of years back. Just can't do anything about the little seam at the base The new cans are not likely as heavy (thickness of the metal and construction) as the original one I have
Might be worth a try since your thoring it out anyway. Just a thought
Interesting discussion. I would believe that the paper identification stickers (and possibly the engine ID tags) were attached at the engine plant. Have pictures around here somewhere of engines on shipping pallets and the paper id stickers are already attached angle is not great to make out any small aluminum tag in the pictures
