I have a set of kids water color paint brushes I keep around. I just touch up the cast iron when it rusts near the cap with the manifold paint I painted the M/C with. Eastwood has this stuff you rub on bare cast iron to make it look new again also.
Did you use their Spray Gray paint? I wonder how their Factory Gray coating or Calyx coating would look. The best solution for me would be the DOT 5 silicone and some paint, since I want minimal maintenance requirements once the car is back on the road.

I despise the look of a nice clean engine bay with a rusty brake master cylinder. What is a good way to keep them looking nice? I know that Eastwood is always pushing their coatings to keep cast metal looking good, or at least to make it the right color. But is there a better way, like coating it with some type of oil?

Functionally, would the 5/8 be enough difference that it would make the snubber not hit the plate on the underside of the car? Just curious, as I need one and could live with slight incorrectness, especially if it means not paying an arm and a leg for a correct part.

Well, at least the 2nd time around they removed the grungy "Caution Fan" sticker. Looks like they put some Ford Corporate Blue lipstick on the pig without disassembly & slapped on some cheap "Mustang" valve covers. How much you want to bet the previous valve covers got blue overspray all over them? Or worse yet, there is overspray on the rockers & pushrods.
Too bad, but it seems there are a lot of these out there. I wonder how many had the engine swapped out years ago and then the owners had no clue it wasn't correct? Obviously the current owner of this car knows & doesn't care.

I bet that with the gripper order coming in, lots of us are thinking about these now, too! Here I am, workin' hard just to buy needed parts on my humble allowance, and I'm spending money on accessory items!
Well worth it, in my opinion.Lyle

It certainly should be at the bottom of the NADA price range, not the middle. The floor pan looks like it was glued in using
JB Weld or Plumbers Goop.

Any plan to still possibly do this someday?

Looks like a nice car....my favorite color. However, according to the VIN this car was built in early Oct. of '64.....before the GT or Pony interior was offered. Still, 30K sounds pretty good.
Hey Gerald, maybe we need to start an "October Poppy Red Hipo Fastback" clique. Your car is one of my faves!
We won't include this particular "pretender" car...

I agree - It looks good, plus it says the same thing as the fender badges.

Geez, considering the early "hot play" the idea had, it sure has quieted down quickly!

Here are 2 pics. One is from 10 years ago, the other is its current situation on jackstands. It will be repainted to its original poppy red, maybe with white LeMans stripes for flair, but for now it is still 1983 Fiero Red. I'm re-doing most of the mechanical stuff, and cleaning up, patching, sealing the undercarriage. Lots of general "cherrying-up" work, much of it in parts not obvious to the casual observer. The ET wheels, though cool, are way too wide and will be replaced with styled steel wheels and dual redline tires.
