    Hi Bos

My car is Oct 64 build, code R paint which decodes as Ivy Green Metallic. Car was in primer when I bought it but the green is still evident on parts of interior metalwork. Was there 2 versions of the Ivy Green?

Having read some of the previous forum threads where colors & interior have been changed, it seems to be something that can really upset K owners. One part of me says keep it 'number matching' but the other says I should be able to enjoy the car the way I want it. I'm not intending on selling in the near future but the only other option is do it Ivy Green, hope that it will 'grow' on me & if it doesn't, I can sell it & get a C code Mustang that I can personalise without remorse.

Sorry Jim, I didn't think it was a dumb question at the time, thanks for your comment all the same.

    regards

    Mick

My car is about to be re-sprayed but I have a dilemna.

Do I keep it the original Ivy Green or paint it Midnight Blue?

I know from a value aspect I should keep it original but from an enjoyment aspect, I'm not a fan of the Ivy Green (apologies to those who are)& prefer the blue.

I've been wrestling with this for a while & my car is due to go to the paintshop in a weeks time.

    All comments & views appreciated.

I was the one who bought the kmh speedo from Bo & it was the first thing I had bought internationally. Bo made it easy & it arrived safe & sound (even though I probably drove him crazy with emails). Since then I've bought a heap of stuff from the US & Europe with no problems. I usually get a USPS tracking number but the item can sometimes arrive before the USPS tracking function knows it's left the USA!

I personally really appreciate you US guys going to the extra trouble to ship O'seas when it would be easier to just sell locally - thanks.<img src=images/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Take it easy on the right hand drive stuff guys!!

Up until fairly recently it was compulsory in most states of Oz to convert left hand drive cars if you wanted to be able to register & drive them.

My Kar was imported in 1989 & so it had to be converted.

For sale on ebay by All American Classic cars Western Australia.

Asking price $120,000.00 AUD ($1 Aus = approx $0.90 US)

Engine No. is listed as being V9715690P ??

Rang the seller - it hasn't got a K code engine, has a C4 auto & a Borg Warner '35' differential. The floor pans also need replacing. The original door tag is still there but he had 'two interested parties' looking at it when I rang so I didn't ask him for the details. He said he had had a lot of calls & volunteered the info above regarding rust & non 'K' drive train without me asking.

    <i></i>" MUSTANG 'K' CODE Convertible 1965, 289 V8 Auto, electric roof, nice black trim. Needs paint, LHD,VIN 5R08K257867 $24,000 AUD Ph 03 9727 5330"

Auto is obviously not correct for a 65 K code? Car is located in Victoria, Australia. Photo shows what appears to be a complete car in primer.

    Hi Steve,

Looks like you're new to this site but not to K Codes.

I waited 12 years for mine - you blew that record!

I used to take my nephew to the drags & he would help me with my first mustangs...he ended up a drag racer & good mechanic but unfortunately developed a leaning towards Chevs.

Your dad obviously had a big influence on you too.

Nice looking coupe - the colour looks like a Twilight Turquoise early 65 coupe I had a few years back - Paint code 5?

All the best & good luck.

Thanks to all for your help & advice - my starter has the longer snout(apparently) & I've been told by our local Guru, Mike O'Sullivan, that there is a 5mm difference so I've had a 5mm spacer milled out of aluminium to cover it either way. Apparently Mike says Ford used to sell these spacers early in the 60's & I,ve seen a sketchy image of one in an exploded view. Anyway, I'll check it when I install it(still a way off yet - trying to build a house as well).
