Well I did it, lost the lower rod for the Clutch equalizer bar for my '65 "K" code some time ago while restoring the car. Need to order another one but don't see one specific for the '65 "K's".

Was it adjustable like the '66 or non adjustable like the '65. The length is longer for the non adjustable "K" Z bar rod than the standard 289 Z bar rod, right?

OK, if it is for my "K" code coupe then should I use it in the restoration rather than a new Repop aluminized h-pipe. If I use this one then it will rust, Right. Would it be advisable to paint it with High temp silver paint, it that color is available,

    Suggestion and your thoughts please?

Several years ago I purchased an NOS ford H-pipe with the follow part number on a tag still attached to the pipe. C5ZZ 5246-K.

Kind anyone gross reference this number to see if it is for a standard dual exhaust 289 or a "K" engine. I have attached it to my "K" engine and it seems to fit the HiPo exhaust manifolds fine. I thought there was a difference between the standard H-Pipe and one for the "K" engines.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have tried suppliers that I know of including NPD and Vir. Classic Mustang with no success. I have even been checking out e-bay as well.

The speaker grille on my car is much darker than medium Ivy gold and that shade on my grille is original to the car.

My "K" code came from the factory with Ivy Gold and White pony interior. The original dash pad has no cracks but has some slight "buckling" along the front edge near the front windshield. The trim does not completely cover the "buckling". It is, of course a green dash pad. Apparently the green dash is no longer available from suppliers any more as a reproduction.

My question is whether to use my original dash pad or go with a reproduction pad like black or white and re-dye. I want to place the front windshield in the car but want to wait until a decision on the dash pad can be made.

    Suggestions please.

I will be at the Raleigh show on the fourth and could provide pictures. I also need to know the correct color for the lower trim between the windshield and the dash pad. Is it light or medium Ivy gold? The radio speaker is mush darker green than any other color in the interior. Does anyone know what color would be correct for that?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I don't plan to run the kar hard therefore I guess one the "looks" correct would be fine. You stated a Carter Fuel pump in your reply, did you mean water pump since that is the item in question.

Thanks for the warning. The console installation will be a task I will not be looking forward to. I will always be interested in suggestions to install that console. I have "dry" fitted the console and so far so good. What do you guys do regarding drilling the holes through the carpet. When I placed the console in the car I first located the two 1/4 holes for the front bracket to make sure it was in the correct place then I went ahead and drilled the 6 holes in to the tranny tunnel. When I go back a install the console I will need to locate those 6 1/8" holes using an ice pick or something like that. Do I just punch the screws through the carpet to start the treading into the holes. I know if I use a drill bit to drill thought the carpet, that could cause a problem. Any suggestions?

Some weeks ago I requested information on various markings found on Kars from the NJ plant. The Kar I am restoring has a few Markel pen markings in white on the front of trhe radiator support but very few. Anyone that has a Kar built around late May or early June '65 from Metuchen Plant, please, respond if you can assist me on the markings found on your Kars.

The last time I posted this, I was unable get any replies.

Is there a difference in the cable from an 8 cyl.car and a 6 cyl. or are they the same?

Any pictures out there showing the clamp on the outside of the frame holding the cable. I know how and where the clamp on the inside side of the frame goes.

I can only assume that it does go through the "groove" between the frame rail and the floor like the pictures show but what about that out side clamp. It is an "L" shaped bracket with the top dished in. If I new how to post a picture of the bracket, I would.

My '65 "K" code was missing the emergency brake cables when I bought the car. The car's build date is June '65. I have a doner car, a '65 "A" code from San Jose with a build date of mid May '65. I was able to retrieve one of the emergence brake cables from this car but the other was un-usable. I have several question re: these cables.

    1. In locating another original cable for my '65 K, does it need to come from a 8 cyl. car or will one from a '65 6 cyl. car work or is it "K" specific?

    2. Is there a difference between the left and right cable on these '65 cars?

    3. Can I assume the the cable is routed in the "groove" stamped into the floor pan and between the rear frame rail rather than being routing to the outside of the frame rail.

    4. I have the left and right clamps that bolt to the inside of the frame rail that hold the cable in place. This clamp actually connects to the cable between the black rubber sheave around the metal cable.

    5. I have two more clamps that are identical that attach with one 5/16 X18 bolt each that go to the outside of the frame rail near the cable , according to my notes, but not sure exactly where.

Any assistance to these questions would be appreciated. You may also direct any response to my e-mail address at htpratt@earthlink.net.

    Thanks for any assistance.
