Could I jump in with a clutch question: I am finally getting ready to build my '65 "K" convertible, and I have a partially worn out left knee acording to my Doctor-he says to come and see him when I'm around 60-62 for a replacement-I want to drive my "K" with the 4 speed all I can once its done so I'm looking for a clutch setup that will certainly still grab but is the lightest I can get away with in peddle pressure, can anyone make recomendations?? the only other way I can go is with a C4 and I don't want to do that!! Thanks!!

Anouther bumper question: would it be better to have an original quality rechromed or just buy a quality reproduction?
-
I am going to have my Top Loader rebuilt/restored and need to know what color/finish I should end up with on it, and when it should be applied-during or after the cleaning and rebuild??
-
So, Bill Heeley CAN replace the cable inside the shifter handle, and rebuild the mechanical part of the shifter and re-chrome the handle as well??
-
I believe that '65-'66 Mustang 8" are the same as Falcons.

My July 1965 built K Convertible HAS what I think are factory installed Power drum brakes, my Brother-in-Law bought the car from a used car lot in 1972 way before anyone was tinkering or restoring these kars.
There was some descussion a while back about this, and anouther member here said he was VERY sure his fastback came with the same setup.

If all you want is a manual chake, and don't care what it looks like, and don't want to spend big $$ most auto parts stores/chains still have manual choke conversion kits for about $20.00, I believe you will have to remove your automatic setup but there won't be any permanant alterations needed.

Anyone have any comments on K A R in Ohio?-I think someone said they are second to none??
How about Oswalt's in North Carolina?
Anyone know of Buckeye Restorations in Ohio? Nate sent me a private email offering to do my car.

Are you talking about Silver Springs show?? I wasn't aware that there was still a show put on at Cypress Gardens like there was 20 years ago.....anyway I think I may have seen the Konvertible at Silver Springs.

That K is 50% better than mine is!! what happens when it comes time to replace the inner fender aprons?
-
I think the seller is going to have to put it into moyh balls for about 5 years or so to get 135K out of it.
-
Several years back I did mine with a template that I obtained from a supplier.

I am still trying to find a good reputable restoration shop that specializes in Mustangs to do my '65 "K" Convertible.
I now realize that I'm probably going to have to leave my sand bar (Florida) to find and deal with a GOOD shop, at this point I'm open to suggestions anywhere in the lower 48 united states.
Also:My car has been looked at and it has been determined that it WILL need pretty much everything EXECPT:RF frame rail RF shock tower, firewall, and parts of the cowl, thats it!! the rest will need to be built from aftermarket replacement metal, even the convertible specific structure behind the rear seat will have to be gotten from a donor car, so there won't be much that isn't "re-bodied" Thanks!

GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!!! Everyone should carry a small fire extinguisher in their vehicle!

I wonder if the Pertronix people could be pursuaded to make us a correct looking yellow top coil with their stuff inside?
-
Has anyone else noticed that most early (65-66) Mustangs with legitimate Deluxe (Pony) interiors have the deluxe outside remote mirror, and cars with the standard interior have the standard manual outside mirror??
-
Funny, bidding has been stuck at 40k since Saturday morning on Ebay!

OK, since I can't seem to get the seller to check for the VINs on the engine block and trans case may be Richard P. or Matt can confirm if in fact that the car has the original engine and transmission in it.
-
I asked the seller (dealer) if he could provide pictures of the VIN stamped on the block and transmission, he replied that he didn't think Ford stamped the blocks and transmissions with a VIN.
He says he bought the car as is and has nothing else with the car-it sure would be nice if we could find out who did the car and may be see some pictures of the restoration process.
