Anyone know what the "4" or "6" designates?

I wonder if the one that sold on Ebay 2 years ago was in fact an original? the one Brant pictured above looks way more original than the one in the picture I remember of the one on Ebay......THAT one sold for over $250 IIRC....

Dave, There are always "fumes" associated with a newly restored car-paint, interior, rubber,lubricants, gasoling, ect, I never noticed anything super offensive.

Brian, It is my understanding that the "2656" decodes this way:The "65" in the middle is the year, and the first "2" and the last "6" ("26") for the 26th week of 1965......I could be wrong but thats how it was explained to me....

Ray, The employee of Pony that stayed behind in New York when they moved to New Mexico tryed his hand at rebuilding/restoring carbs like Pony, but as I understand it he failed terribly at that and customer service. name was Kurt Paxil....something like that....

The date code in this case "2656" is for the 26th week of 1965.

I had heard that the Python folks were previous employees of Snake-Oyl..........Not that thats a bad thing but I remember what happeded when a previous employee of Pony Carbs tried to branch out on his own....

I agree, I thought the car would have brought more, I believe that the owner didn't truely know the Mustang market too well.

So the thing the guy makes is just a bracket? what about the rest of the setup? is it available in repro? my July 1965 Dearborn car most-likely should have the later light that this new bracket is made for then? where does the power come from for the light? I've obviously not seen 1 before.

Dave, Please tell us what exhaust manifolds you are using.

I don't believe that the "H" pipe for a standard 289 application will fit Hipo manifolds and vise-versa.

I believe that then installed, provided the engine and transmission are installed and bolted in tight that the ends of the "H" pipe WILL point slightly upwards.

I don't know about a specific color code for a particular color but my restorer used Lacquer (sp-sorry) which was somewhat hard to find on my '65s Black interior/dash-this is evedentally what the factory used...

Don't know exactly what you are looking for in the way of one of these carbs but there are usually many in various stages on Ebay...I took a quick look and there seems to be lots from Galaxie big block applications.
