Yesterday I called Marti Auto Works to order my reproduction Data plate, engine tag, and rear end tag (my car is Dearborn built so I don't need a buck tag, and I already have a tag on my 4100 carb)

I don't know who I spoke with there but the man seemed dumfounded/surprised when I told him I had all the originals in front of me, he seemed to think it was going to be a chore for me to come up with all the numbers and codes.

Is the general concensus that most cars have lost their original tags long ago and he hates to get calls from people trying to piece the info together from scratch??

Anyone know why he doesn't make the steering box tags? does ANYONE make steering box tags??

"Paul" at PS told me that all glass was manufactured way before the cars build date by as much as 3 months or more, so for my July 1965 build date he is using "5 D" which equates to April 1965, he assures me that that will absolutely fly even if its not the same as the side glass as the side glass and windsheilds were manufactured independently of each other-I'm going to leave it to him-he is the glass expert.

I ordered my windsheild from PS yesterday, I spoke to a "Paul" who seemed very knoledgeable and he assured me that he could provide me with a very correct, date coded windsheild for my car.

It was $175.00 acid etched with the oval Carlite logo, and proper date code, and $110.00 for shipping to my restorer's shop.

Someone is selling what they call an NOS HIPO fan on Ebay right now if anyone needs one, its pictured with its original box, with the correct part nember on it, I am curious as to where the $$ will go??

-just do a search for "1965 Mustang nos" not mine, but I thought I'd pass the info along!

My July 27th 1965 is Dearborn built, and as I recall it had what I thought were the original arms on it when it went to be restored, and they were very bright and shiney still.....I know the later ones that we are talking about were a dull finish of some sort.

What about the BLADES?? airfoil or not??

To the best of my knoledge/recolection the 1965 Mustang wiper ARMS should be chrome or something highly polished-I believe the '66s werea dull finish?? are there correct 1965 repros on the market?

And as far as the blades go I know trico has a line of vintage blades on the market but I am wondering if the originals had the "air foil" on them?? it seems that somewhere back in the 60s that I remember some cars with the air foils....did the 1965 Mustangs use these? are they reproduced?

PS Auto Glass IS the company that I am most impressed with their attitude towards creating me a correct appearing windsheild.

I have NOT asked them point blank IF they are buying completely blank glass that is made overseas and then stamping/etching them per request, but I truely believe this is how they do it so reasonably.

I have to wonder now that IF there was a failure of the windsheild somehow that caused a death or serious injury and someone tried to sue CARLITE and it was found NOT to be their glass what would happen??

I am looking for a correct Carlite tinted/shaded (sun X) windshield for my '65 K Convertible.

I have found a couple of places that say they can provide me the correct glass and even correctly date code it to match the rest of my glass.

I am getting the impression that these places are buying completely blank glass from overseas and stamping/etching it to order.

One place asked me which way the OVAL CARLITE logo faced.....mine, acording to my restorer reads from left to right from the OUTSIDE of car, the glass place said it could be either way...I guess all my side glass is this way as well??

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions on a correct windsheild??

OK, Someone makes and supplies the RED and GOLD ultra expensive filters to the various Mustang parts suppliers, we need to find out who it is and somehow get them to sell us may be 100 at a time before they are painted RED or GOLD......I have seen sleeves made for other makes oil filters and I would think that someone probably could make them for the RED or GOLD ones too?? plus there has got to be some sort of tool that could be had to do the double crimp on a Motorcraft FL-1A or any other filter that we might use (then paint block color)
