I second that. I have heard way too many people use the excuse that 'they weren't put together well when they were new' when showing a mediocre-fitting car. True, the tolerances were not as tight as today's cars, but they were not just slapped together. The above car had VERY good fit and other than the hood, had never been apart or wrecked.
AMEN as well!!! Thank You!!

Do they really pay that close of attention to the date code on doors and hoods? Just asking, because this seems almost too excessive? I know nothing about judging a car or anything like that, so I am speaking from ignorance.
It's not simply a matter of date codes. Fit and finish play a big part in choosing the best parts. I've found that cars with all the factory-installed sheet metal to be some of the best, well fitting cars out there. I don't buy the "Ford threw them together" mentality. While I'm sure there were some cars that had fit problems from the factory, for the most part, I think Ford did a pretty good job. For those that have seen cars with factory sheet metal, you know what I'm talking about.
AMEN!!!!!!!!!! Well said Charles!! Thank You!!!!

I notice the bottle they are showing is the same weight (15W40) as is recomended for Diesel engines-as I recall thats what we put in my K engine-Shell Rotella 15W40-and added a zinc type additive-I agree about the synthetic oils, I use them in all my daily drivers, including my '99 F350's 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel engine, I think when it comes time to change the oil I'll go with the Shell Rotella Synthetic.......what exactly does the zinc do for our vintage car engines? anything particular to the flat tappet cam engines?

Very Cool then!!!! Again, Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!

More GREAT stuff Brant!!!! Again, Bravo to you!!!!!!
Are these Ford Licensed??
-
Hi Dave!! I BELIEVE that the C995 is your car's rotation number on the line, the 63A is for Fastback body with standard interior, R I think is your paint code-Ivy Green??, the 26 is for your Black standard interior, and the "BL" we believe is for "backup lights"-is there anything on the oposite side?? My 7/65 Dearborn Konvertible had "HP", and because mine is a GT it had "GT" as well.
Hope all is going well, you are one hell of a man to take on a project as rough as your car is, believe it or not mine was MUCH WORSE. (Don't forget about checking in once in a while over at the Ford truck site!!-Rick

I understand that there IS (A) version of the tie-downs that is reproduced, anyone know which one of the 4 types that earlyk speaks about it looks closest to?
-

4 the record their are actualy 3 types of tie down plates, early, middle and late... I have all three in my collection
How about sharing some pics and show the differences?
-
I strongly believe that all K codes would have come from the factory with an 8k tach.
-
I would think that NPD supplied you with a name brand filter element, hopefully a quality one......may be it was just a bad gasket?? may be call NPD & ask for anouther?
-
Can you please tell us exactly what you are looking for??
-
ZRay, I think you are right....I'll bet the crowd at Ford nowadays is probably in their 20s and have absolutely no idea as to what they are looking at nor are they compairing the new reproduction part to the original......it seems so simple of a situation to do (in the case of the parking light lenses anyway) to make them EXACTLY like the originals...after all Ford made-(or had made)them "frosted" way back in 1964 didn't they.
-
Anyone else read the article yet?
-I do have one question though:(a for example type)Concerning the '65-'66 parking light lenses: I understand the originals were kind of a "frosted" look to them and the LICENSED reproductions are not-why would Ford sign off on them when they are a very clear amber look?
-
Charles, All I can say is simply WOW!!! What a GREAT car!! you did a superior job on it-like many I've been following your restoration on it and only wish I'd been able to make it to the show to see it in person.
-
Yes, Thanks for sharing the GREAT pics!!!
-
Interesting......I don't really know where my hoses came from....I guess I'd better pinch the lower to see if there is already one in there...

I read the article talking about the process of actually getting the nod from Ford to take the tooling and remake the parts, this is very interesting to me and I am all for using these type products at a bit higher cost than a lesser quality Chinese part.
I am of the belief that AFTER a manufacturer (such as Scott Drake) makes the part and gets final approval from Ford to procede with production that he offers an exclusive to a vendor of his choice at first to get the word out-case in point the recent addition of the HIPO fan spacer and the '65GT/'66 hood moulding being repped by VA Mustang.
I was actually hoping that the parts reproduction site would have had a list of ALL the FORD TOOLING parts that are available but I sure couldn't find it.........Comments??
