To those looking for radiators: please post your transmission type too, as that is embossed in the identifcation of the radiators. Some of us run across early radiators we can't use because of transmission type and we should post them here for others. I find them frequently and will help if I know what you're looking for.

I wrote that letter to HMN as a way of thanking my wife for getting me back into cars. Yesterday afternoon, New Years Eve, I came home and opened the mail box to find a self addressed stamped envelope. A couple of years ago I sent it to one of the previous owners I had tracked down in an effort to get him to help me fill in the history of my car. I had hit a dead end in the provenance at 1991. For the past three years I kept calling his voice mail, sending letters, and emailing information about the car as I restored it in hopes that he would contribute his history with the car. In a last ditch effort I sent him information about the K Day show and a copy of the HMN article figuring that if that didn't break the ice nothing would. It must have helped, because the enevelope he sent me contained the entire ownership history of the car from day one.

If you do the math and look at the cost of a donor car, plus a K code driveline and then add all of the fresh soft parts it seems like the shell & title would have to be cheaper than $12K.

Maybe we could get the administrator to consolidate these two under the VIN #; I tried to find it that way before I put the post up. Sorry for doubling up.

Good point. I haven't had any interaction with the seller other than asking for photos when I first saw the listing.

Found this on the VMF: 65 FB shell for sale in CA - $12,500. The seller has a lot of images that clearly show the condition. It's too bare boned for me, but if someone is interested I'm about an hour away. Looks like two of the three VINs are there. This car is not in the registry yet.

Seeking the U-shaped clamp that holds the torsion rod to the deck lid on a 65 FB. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks.

While that may be true, you can't do that before deciding how much this car is really worth. Since the fuel system is corrupted, there is no way to drive the car. Does anyone here think it's a good idea to bid over $20,000 on a car without knowing if there are any problems with the transmission, clutch, rear axle, brakes, steering, cooling system, etc?
You have to cut me a little slack; I wasn't suggesting anyone buy the car, just talking about the fuel system being easy to fix relative to the cost of the potential rust repairs.

-
I have the same problem you do, Fred; being from California the word "normal" has a different definition. When someone talks about fuel tank rust out here it's generally on the inside! of the tank.
-
I may have missed it in the ebay listing, but I didn't see much there in the way of rust mentioned. Are the rust issues that are being discussed here a result of the other contact that was had with the seller? The fuel system is easy; change the tank, lines and pump and overhaul the carb. If there's that kind of rust, though, I agree with Fred and the others about the "ugh" factor and expense.

I would love to have an unrestored car like this one to work with.

It was around $60. (503) 855-3670 - ask for Lisa Cejka.

I spent a lot of time looking for the early style cables with the split hoses and agree that In-Line is best reproduction. I watched eBay for some time looking for the early cables and didn't ever see them with the split hoses.

Por15 also has a manifold gray paint that is close. It should be baked on the way they instruct.

Automotive Friction in Oregon; awesome service. They've done three pumps for me and had them all back to me within a week and they came out beautiful.
-
It could be a later service part; some of them do not have the upside down AE. Does it have a Ford logo anywhere?

You said it, Murf.
