Be curious to know if the undercarriage was detailed before or after the auction.

If you tone down the bling this would be a fun driver. Lots of goodies in there.

Auto trans throttle linkage too.

Double layer of thick shrink tubing seems to work well. I haven't found a way to replicate the crimps yet.

Very nice! It is always great to see an original car preserved. We will want more photos!

The 6B28 heads are Feb of 66 castings and the block is a 5B17 making it Feb of 65, so the seller is incorrect with respect to a matching numbers engine assembly. The engine has a roller chain, and the hatchet weight is likely to be gone. I'd want to know if the engine had been balanced when it was overhauled to make up for the loss of the extra weight. I notified the seller of the discrepancy in the date codes.
The clutch pedal is probably missing a return spring on the fork.

Here is the risk of copying undercarriage details from other cars when you're not sure of the authenticity:
Shelby undercarriage from the HiPo Forum Photos section - note the DSO 26 on the diff:

Image found on ebay car with a DSO 15 data plate and DSO 26 on the diff. Also note the yellow daubs on the springs:

Shebly undercarriage again, note the driveshaft striping, "3" on the diff tube and yellow daubs on the springs:

Ebay car again, note the driveshaft striping and "3" on the diff tube:

Same story elsewhere on the car.
This is a nice driver, but would not be concours correct without a great deal of work. The undercarriage photos were too fuzzy to make out the details clearly, so determining if the trans or block are VIN stamped isn't possible.

Down on his luck becuase he's getting married?

The LA Public Library has a good microfiche file of local newspapers from back then (yes, they still use the stuff). I have some info I need to dig out of their archives, but don't live in LA. There were a handful of dealers in LA then and I need info on Klem Ford as well. I received a list of researchers in LA that will dig around in the library for a fee if you are interested.

I may have a photo of an installed unit, but will have to dig. If you have access to the Osborn Assembly manuals I believe you will find it illustrated in the wiring harness installation for the dash area.

Caveat emptor! Hopefully the seller will work with the buyer to get it straightened out.

I think I said the exact same thing about 4 years ago. Never did paint the thing, but couldn't bring myself to stop restoring it!
-
Congratulations, Charles! It is a relief when you discover you have the original parts that belong with the car.

Makes sense; even with a bolt on blower a 271/289 is still not going to produce 425 HP!

Found in the body shop of Mustangs Plus in Stockton, CA undergoing restoration. Sheet metal work is extensive but being done professionaly to a very high standard with care to use correct date code replacement parts. Current owner is a long time Mustang enthusiast and expert, and has the original engine and transmission. This car has a great story behind it and I hope to induce him to add his personal info and the car to the registry. The car is a Jan. '65 SJ FB and the original data plate is intact.

Congratulations to Murf for a great article in this month's Mustang Monthly; your K code looks terrific!

The following images are intended to help clarify the differences in the exhaust hanger mounts.
The first three images show the rear exhaust hanger locations that were used for all three K code exhaust systems: transverse duals with turndowns, Arvinode with turndowns or GT trumpets, and straight through duals with turndowns or GT trumpets.
The last two show the front hanger reinforcing plate that was used on all dual exhaust cars, GT and non-GT: the images are a 65 K code with the dual exhaust floor reinforcing plate compared to a 65 C code wihtout dual exhaust reinforcement.
NON-GT CARS PRIOR TO 3/22/65:
Up to 10/15/64 the cars were equipped with transverse duals. From 10/15/64 to approximately 3/22/65 the same mounting points were used with different hangers for the Arvinode systems. Some very early GT cars were equipped with Arvinode systems with trumpets. Hangers were fastened to the frame rail with 5/16 NC bolts.

NON-GT AND GT CARS FROM 3/22/65:
From 3/22/65 the cars were equipped with straight through duals and the exhaust hanger locations were moved toward the rear. Non-GT cars would have turndowns and GT cars would have trumpets. Hangers were fastened to the frame rail with 5/16 NC bolts and nuts.
