Hi guys,
I am looking for an aluminum pump for my 65.
It must be dated 3 or 4 65, i.e. 3 or 4 dots
around the 65 circle. Also the C5AE-XXXX-C
Anybody have a core? HiPo not necessary as I have
the correct impeller.
Thanks,
/Bo

Bob,
The aircleaner looks like the later version?
/Bo
It should be black.

Hi again Charles and thanks,
Checked my washer bag and it looks like the one
you have on ebay except it has a grey plastic
top where the cap is fitted. The rivets look the
same and the texture on the back side looks the same as well.
Have another one that has a black plastic top but the
rivets look a bit different. Probably a reproduction.

Thanks Charles,
Will use your pictures to make a comparison to the one
on my car.

Hi Charles,
Saw your ebay auction on the 65 NOS windshield washer bag.
A question for you:
How do you separate an NOS from a Repo. The reason I ask
is that I bought a bag at Carlisle some years ago that was
presented as a NOS but I am not 100% sure.
Thanks,
/Bo
Hi,
Ordered a rear axle tag for my 65 Shelby.
Sent them a copy of an original tag and
the one I got from Marti was right on
the money.
Very pleased with the service.

Hi Rene,
If you aren't too worried about originality, you could
lower the upper A-arms one inch like Shelby did on the
65's and 252 first 66's. Have that on my 65 Shelby, of course,
but also did it on my 67 Shelby with excellent results.
Shelby 65's and 66's had a 1" front sway bar and I am not an
expert but believe that there must have been a reason why
they added this thicker bar. For a HiPo Mustang to handle like
a Shelby you must do all the changes Shelby did including
traction bars etc.

Hi,
They were natural originally but the NOS ones
in Ford boxes are painted in a light blue color.
The marking on the side cover is the date code.
Like mine has 39-5, day 39 in 1965.
/Bo
Charles,
Do you have any March-April 65 pump core available
for sale? Doesn't need to be a hipo.
Thanks,
/Bo
Do you still have the 3/65?
If you do, I'll buy it from you.
Thanks,
/Bo
Hi,
Have understood that both dots and stripes could have been used.
All 65's (Shelbys) from the San Jose plant I have seen have had
dots. In fact I cleaned two HiPo spring leafs yesterday and they
had a yellow dot. Couldn't see any green on any of these but they
have been untouched for almost 43 years.
/Bo
On Ebay you can find The Water Pump Man.
He restores them. Also carries the correct 6 blade
impeller.

The Shelby 65 grill is the same as the
Mustang non-GT grill.
/Bo
The NOS ones from Ford are different from the
ones that came on the cars. The rubber hose cover
is in one piece on the replacements and two pieces
on the originals. Have two NOS that I never used due
to the difference. Maybe Virginia Mustangs repo's are
made like the Ford replacements.
Merry Christmas to Ya'll

Welcome!

Dan,
There are three rubber plugs to cover the
holes where the bolts holding the battery tray
normally would be mounted.
/Bo
Thanks Charles,
Have been thinking of taking off some dots.
Have a possible 8 dot (Aug) 65 water pump
but which 4 should I remove in such a case?
/bo
Charles,
This is a factory photo from Shelby and the only
question is if Ford in San Jose or Shelby put
it on the cars. I have seen other photos from 65 Shelbys
show this tape as well. Never seen it on a 65 HiPo though
which points toward Shelby.
/Bo
Hi Charles,
You are correct. I should have said engine assembly date.
which was May 3, 1965 and car was received at Shelby on
May 13, so the dates are very close. What date do you suggest on
waterpump?
Thanks,
/Bo
