The shop manual doesn't give info on adjusting the proportioning valve and I failed to measure how far the threaded end sticks out past the big lock nut before I disassembled it. Does anyone have any info or a measurement from the lock nut to the end of the threaded cap? thanks. Brock

Maybe i didn't read close enough but he doesn't seem to mention that it's not a K code block. The small damper's the giveaway.

I picked up a set of 45's just not sure what gap to use. They are factory gapped at .042. the Ford manual calls for .028-.032 for BF-32's and .032-.036 for BF42's.??

I'd like to use modern Autolite spark plugs in my K engine. Is there a different plug for the K as opposed to a regular 289 or are they now the same for all 289's?

I have a 65 FB built late March with a Nov `64 engine with the earlier straighter dipstick tube. The coil and bracket can't be installed in the usual spot due to the lack of room with this dipstick tube. My question is where was the coil mounted on this earlier engine?
Also wondering which was the proper way to orient the distributor. The wire is fairly long so I would think it would come out of the housing on the driver's side??
Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm looking for a hipo flywheel. thanks. Brock

Thanks, Fred. The problem is that I am removing a 5 bolt non-K 289 from my K FB and replacing it with a fresh 289K engine that came without a flywheel. I don't have a hipo flywheel to reference, just an aftermarket steel unit that was on the 5 bolt.

I used the search, and there is way to much speculation which leaves me more confused.
Is there an aftermarket flywheel that will work? If not, what are we supposed to do when all the original flywheels are gone? Centerforce doesn't have a 289K specific flywheel.
