    Rich,

I logged this in my database a couple years ago as belonging to your user ID. Would love to capture your phone number or email to get ahold of you quickly should I come across the transmission or kar. Are you still in Nashville?

Crawling around my buddy’s fastback, he found the engine in it is stamped 5R07K227170. In case anyone is looking for it. It’s not for sale, except possibly to the owner of the car it belongs in. Thanks

    Burgundy66,

I document the location of vin stamped blocks and transmissions in my database. I have almost 400 vins documented. Would love to be able to contact the owner of the block you found in the future if I ever come across the owner of the kar this block came out of.

    New member own a 66 fastback A code with 65 k code engine . I

I' will have 101 questions I/m sure of this

I'm curious to know if you have a vin stamped block? If so, I might know someone looking for their long lost engine the the kar your engine came out of. Check out the lost and found site on this forum and message me if you do have a vin stamped engine block on that HiPo motor.

    Tater_51,

A search of my database did not yield any result for this vin. Can I record your phone number and city/state in case I run across a matching vin on a kar or transmission?

How did you come to acquire the block? What is the block's current configuration?

Toploader four speed was installed By me in my Cougar decades ago.

A couple years ago swapped it for an overdrive transmission, I found out it had the vin stamp. I had no idea other than it’s a close ratio and had been zero trouble .

    Mboly68,

Thank you for posting this again. I recorded this transmission maybe a little over a year ago from a previous post on this website I believe. I have a phone number for you of 360-349-9491. I will contact you if I ever find the block or kar it came out of.

You realize there are a lot of original K codes that did not have a VIN code stamped on engine or trans.

You are speculating unless you have any original source documents from Ford saying K-code engines were not stamped. I'd recommend not perpetuating something that you cannot prove, although I acknowledge it is likely true but I never claim it to be fact. Do you have a mismatched vin you'd like to enter, warwick?

For those of us who have been in this hobby for multiple decades, this topic has been discussed over and over and over. Personally I know 20 years I commented on the original HiPo site where the conclusion was (and has not changed) that it was more common to have a VIN stamp on a San Jose car than Dearborn or Metuchen. There are many examples of documented to day 1 cars without a VIN stamp (I happen to have one of those) and have spoken with some VERY WELL RESPECTED people on this site who have owned K cars with AND without VIN stamps. Furthermore, my beef going back to the 90’s and original HiPo site was always how do you authenticate someone randomly entering a VIN in a database...either the HiPo site or Tony Gregory or any other sites out there?

To prove my point, you can add these VINs to your database (don’t), 6T07K123456 and 6F08K123456 and 6R09K123456 and without someone inspecting any of these ghost cars, you have zero proof that they are authentic.

It is also a known fact that people can and have fraudulently added VINs to fender aprons AND drivetrains so the words “buyer beware” are always appropriate with these and other high dollar muscle cars

    6T09KGT,

I certainly agree I've seen much more San Jose and Dearborn vin stamped blocks. But you mention "there are many examples of documented to day 1 cars without a VIN stamp." Well let's analyze one of those claims. Please share it. I don't know what specific example you are referring to but I'm certainly open to learning more.

I want to believe that every HiPo block was vin stamped from each of the Ford plants during the assembly line. Ford was great at mass producing a product with strict quality control. I didn't say Ford's QC was perfect though. The bottomline is this: it's just to easy for a HiPo owner to claim "not all blocks were vin stamped" when they want to claim their engine is original to the kar. Ultimately the proof fall upon the owner who claims his non vin-stamped block is original to his car. But they will never be able to prove it.

As for my database. It doesn't matter that your ghost vins are entered into my database. My database is purely used to help link up vin stamped blocks and vin stamped transmissions with the original kar it came out of. That is all. My database is just a tool to record contact information of people looking for a missing block or transmission for their kar. I've found several already. It's been pretty rewarding!

Your comment about my database proves nothing.

Yes, people can add fraudulent vins to something. But if someone was selling your vin stamped toploader on ebay...if YOU BELIEVE it to be authentic to your kar after verifying the date code matches up, then that's all that matters.

    Tracicar,

That is great news! Glad you are reporting this. I haven't ran across this vin in the past. But I did add it to my database. Can I get your city/state and phone number so I can call you asap should I find someone looking for this block?
