The data plate indicates a 3:50 open,
although I don’t believe it’s original to the Kar. It is a June built Dearborn Kar, the pinion support is 5B15 an the third member is 5B2 an I think it’s an Trac Loc Posi. so no way original to the Kar. When machinist was working on engine he thought the Kar was used for drag racing, it had triple valve springs an some other modifications according to him. This may account for the Trac-Loc, but the number 9 in the housing is still a mystery.

After pulling 3rd member for rebuild,
this is what I found, number 9 not sure what the other piece is for.
Nice looking Kar, a set of duel redlines with that yellow would be outstanding.
This is probably as good as it gets, advertised as real lead, I still use it every so often when I want an high octane than is available at the pumps.

C4OW on the flange ends, would this be correct for my Kar, if not
what would they be for.

Are K-Code axles specific or can I use
axles for another source, after chasing light vibration for some time it turned out to be bent axle on right
side.

A few pictures.
After pulling steering box I was undecided who to send the box to
Rodes or Chock, I decided on Chock,
installed the box, set toe with string
method took Kar for a spin couldn’t be more pleased, steering is tight no slop no play, even with my amateur attempt at setting toe the Kar tracked straight an true,I’m taking Kar for real alignment soon, I’m not sure it could get any better.

the stamp was on the side of the case, that’s why I questioned it.
