Finally got around to cleaning up the toploader from my K fastback. Was taking my time with a small brush and cleaner, wiped off where I had cleaned and the VIN stamp seemed to appear from nowhere, kinda cool!
Found a few markings, which I figured some may be interested in. For reference, my K is a January '65 Dearborn car.

V8 and 6cyl are different cables.
-
Ford did service the cables with the larger sheaths, which could be cut as needed.
-
I have a couple extra, but they have some surface rust. Send me a PM if interested.

Natural casting. Originals have "FoMoCo" cast into the edge and a date code.
-
The 3speed manual was standard equipment on C and A codes, no matter the options. Seen plenty of factory GT 3 speeds (non-K... of course

Your July '65 car should have a crimped handle ratcheting lug wrench. The jack would be the typical flip top.
-
You have a '66 latch base, you need a '65 one.

The lamps are adjustable, not the bars.
-
Not all fastbacks had the 2-sided stuff. Seen a lot of original cars with strip caulking also.

Caspian blue with blue interior...

Keep in mind that the cars you see in brochures were typically pre-production or pilot cars done way in advance to actual production. I would not use them as a detail reference to actual assembly line production cars.
-
Actually, the Ford assembly manuals do give some dimensions.

If you're showing in MCA concours, you won't get any deductions if it is a Carter fuel pump (new or late style).
-
Most mods appear to be reversible, think this car would be most valuable in it's original configuration though (generator, etc...)
They they used the wrong radiator support... should have found an original 64.5 style.

Yes, I have communicated with Ted quite extensively over the past few years in his endeavor to collect as many NOS parts for his car as possible.
I thought he should have known better on this choke cable. Hopefully the buyer will realize what they bought.

Here's the VIN stamp on the block. Casting date of 5A5, heads are mid-November '64. 4L balancer.

Repro anyone?
