For those who wonder how the venerable 289 HiPo specs out on an engine dyno, Mustang Monthly decided to find out. A fairly accurate "replica" 289 HiPo engine was built to put on a dyno to see if the factory rated 271 hp was developed...Then, they added the Shelby bolt-ons to see if the GT-350 version would deliver the 306 advertised horse power...To find out how this interesting dyno test turned out, you can read the entire article HERE.

Ever wonder how easy is was to build a new 1965 Mustang? Watch as Motown recording group Martha and the Vandellas take a firsthand look at our favorite cars being assembled at the Dearborn Assembly Plant.
Many thanks to Dave V. for finding this extremely interesting video!

I know of at least one '65 Comet with a 289 HiPo that has a VIN stamped block. The car was built at Metuchen, and came with no less than three build sheets stashed inside the car.

Wow - that will really have an impact on future business...
Yes, and it also may result in insurance premiums going up for all the rest of us with collectible auto insurance policies.

I don't know a lot about Fairlanes but this one looks nice to me and IF it has a VIN stamped engine and trans that match the car then I'd say this was a decent buy for someone....
It seemed like a pretty bona fide car from what I can tell. Except for the aluminum intake, the engine appears correct, although I can't tell if the distributor is the correct early style casting. The 63-64 HiPo Fairlanes didn't get the VIN stamped engines, but rather, a serial number was stamped on the engine near the bell housing. These early HiPo's were built with 5 bolt blocks, and the serial numbers were used to help Ford's engineering department track defects and overall quality. READ MORE HERE

This restored K code 1964 Fairlane Sports Coupe was just sold at auction in Florida for $24,000.

What a shame. Looks as though a lot of those cars are total losses...

Wow! It sold fast...

Bumping this post to see if there's any response.
Quote from HeidelbergI've also been trying for a couple of months and have sent through 3 or 4 emails with no response.
I am assuming that forums like these are supported by volunteer labour/effort, so I have taken the approach that I as a member of the forum just have to be happy with what I can get, but it would be nice to get a reply to my emails even if it's a statement..."got your email.....I'll get to it when I can!"

In order to further clarify this situation, I contacted Marv, the HPM site owner and "Registry Steward". He asked me to post in his behalf a brief explanation concerning the current status of the High Performance Mustang Registry. Because of a chronic inflamation in his right elbow, he recently had surgery performed to correct the problem. The operation has gone well, but the healing process is going slowly, and he reported that using a mouse and typing still causes enough discomfort that he has not been able to use his computer to do the necessary work and verification that is required to add the VIN information to the database. This does not mean that your cars aren't "in the Registry", but currently they are only present in a preliminary "raw form". Marv explained that there are "a lot" of cars in this stack, and they have not been lost or ignored. He just needs a bit more time to get back to normal again so that he can complete the processing work on his end, and then upload new additions to the online Registry on this website.

Some of you may have seen a recent post where a member of our site asked a question about what the correct K code carburetors were marked with in the way of numbers, I didn't know the answer to the question but posted a reply suggesting that he contact Jon at Pony Carburetors for the answer ...Then the thread received a very negitive response about Pony carburetors to the point the whole thread had to be deleted I guess it may have gotten much worse during the day-(I had read it in the early morning) and by last night it was gone.

QuoteI too was wondering where that topic went.

Rick and Jack, be assured that the thread has not been deleted, edited, or locked. You can still read the entire topic, including a certain negative comment about the clone HiPo 4100 units offered by Pony Carburetors HERE.

... Just right click on photo and see if it comes up with "SAVE PICTURE AS...".
Q.
I've been doing that for years, using Internet Explorer as my browser. I recently switched to a different computer that is set up with the Mozilla browser, and have discovered that the "Mozilla Firefox" is blocking me from saving (and posting) the pictures from eBay...go figure. Guess I'll switch my browser back to IE.

Don't you just love the "archived" posts?
I know I do...It's amazing to see the way that car turned around in a few years.
