Here's a used set of early heads that SOLD for $430.00.

    DESCRIPTION:

This is a set of bare heads for the 1963/4 289 HiPo engine. They are unique that they have the small 49cc combustion chamber, which made the compression ratio higher in 1963 and very early 1964 than later years. They have the screwed-in rocker stud pedestals and spring bosses. They were fully machined 15 years ago. Three of the exhaust seats were replaced. Thick wall valve guides were inserted. The heads were never run, as I got rid of the car they were for. They have matching December 23, 1963 date codes.

Here's an interesting remanufactured Autolite distributor that SOLD for an impressive $390.00.

    DESCRIPTION:

You are bidding on a very rare FOMOCO remanufactured 289 HiPo Dual Point distributor. Correct for the Shelby GT 350, and the Mustang, Comet, and Fairlane K code 289 HiPo. This is a remanufactured service replacement dual point distributor. Part number on the original box reads C5OZ-12127-E. The orginal tag that is attached to the front of the distributor reads C5OF-12127-E. The date code on the housing reads 4HD. The housing cores that Ford's Service Department used for remanufacturing these distributors may or may not have a part number on them. They discontinued remanufactured service replacement dual point distributors in 1978. This thing is sweet! It comes complete with the original new dual points, condenser and wire. You are bidding on the NOS distributor, not the original box.

This used balancer was SOLD for $650.00.

    DESCRIPTION:

This a factory Ford 271 HiPo balancer which has been on my shelf for over 25 years. I had it professionally blasted & painted. The rubber liner is in near mint condition, but the flat "pulley" surface has a couple of very minor tap marks which I couldn't see until the paint was on. You will never see them with the pulley on. The "seal" surface is very nice. This balancer is probably as near to NOS as you will find. The pictures show that it is the proper width balancer and not the stepped service replacement. It has a build code of "J5" (October 1965). I have recently seen these sell for $400.00 for a completly beat up unit to nearly $800.00 for a nice one like this. Prices in U.S. dollars, payment within 10 days. Buyer to pay shipping from 98295.

Looks like a nice car... However, according to the VIN this car was built in early Oct. of '64.....before the GT or Pony interior was offered.

That's right...This car is listed in the Registry between consecutive unit number 143379 and 144137, which have scheduled build dates of "03K". Look closely at the engine pictures, and you'll see the dipstick is extended enough to clear a generator.

It doesn't appear that this car is as "real" as the seller wants us to believe. Whether it's worth $30K is up for debate, but it appears to have enough issues on the surface to raise doubts.

Here's a used left side exhaust manifold that SOLD for $177.50.

    DESCRIPTION:

Original 289-306 HP 1967 Shelby GT-350 Exhaust Manifold.

Clean blasted, NOT Painted, Honest BARE metal, and in EXCELLENT Condition with No Cracks, Porting, or other visable flaws. Studs & threads are in good condition too.

Don't miss out on these rare and factory Ford original items. Why settle for reproductions when you can have the real deal!

I had my '65 Comet AM-FM repaired by Mike Hagan of Fairless Hills, PA. He's about a 20 minute ride for me, and I had known about him for many years prior to my needing his services. About 5 years ago, I drove to his house with my prized Bendix AM-FM, and dropped it off. He gave me a quick tour of his interesting shop. My radio was repaired for a flat rate, which was around $125 at that time, and it took a few weeks for completion.

He did mention that he was able to perform Stereo conversions on vintage radios without altering their fit or appearance.

Here's a nice looking used distributor that SOLD for $148.50.

    DESCRIPTION:

Up for bid is a good used original Motorcraft dual point distributor for mid to late 60s era FORD small block engines such as 260 289 302 mainly on 271 horse power "K" High Performance motors, part# C5OF-12131-B on the housing shaft and #C5OF-12127-E on the upper housing with a date code of October 20th 1965.

On Jun-08-05 at 09:53:38 PDT, seller added the following information:

PLEASE NOTE: It has been brought to my attention that this distributor is a service replacement item, and that it was manufactured in 1975, not 1965. The factory installed distributors were AUTOLITE... none the less this is still a very sought after item, and well worth the price. I would however understand the need for anyone to retract their bid.

On Jun-08-05 at 10:19:52 PDT, seller added the following information:

Once again, I messed up... but I learn something new every day. The original would have been "FoMoCo" through 67, and most unrestored originals would have an orange paint daub on the camshaft gear, points should be marked FoMoCo in script for 64-66, and Autolite for 67, and should be the DP6 design, instead of the standard DP5 if doing concourse correct. The service replacements available over the parts counter would be "AUTOLITE" & "MOTORCRAFT".

    Quote from SHELB66

I authored the radio ID article that was published in Mustang Monthly in the early 80's. I would find the radios and my dad would fix them. I just wish he was still around to teach me those skills today.

Thanks for that info, Craig. I'm always interested in learning about behind the scenes stuff, and I recall reading your informative radio ID story...

    Quote from SHELB66

I have some additional info to pass along with respect to the Comet AM/FM radio. I have owned a couple of 1965 units and the major differences are the slide bar, as mentioned above, has COMET instead of FORD embossed on the front, the bezel is painted black instead of being chrome, and the tuning & volume control shafts are much longer due to the thicker dash faceplate that is utilized in the Comet.

You're quite right about the longer tuning and volume shafts which also require special, extended length hex nuts to secure the Comet radios to the dash panel. I considered mentioning this in my post, but decided not to get that specific. It appears that the basic chassis is the same for both radios, and that was my main point.

It's also interesting that the pushbuttons can be preset to different positions on the AM band than on the FM band.

    Quote from BIGERMIKE

The am/fm that came in my 641/2 comet cyclone must be worth a lot more money then the mustang one. They had a special dash bezzel.

    Mike

I had one in my 65 Cyclone, and it's essentially the same chassis as the Mustang unit, except for the chrome bar that selects AM or FM. The Mercury radio has "COMET" engraved on it. Both radios were made by Bendix. I currently have the correct mono Mustang AM/FM in my HiPo.

The Mustang AM/FM radios generally will bring more money on the market than the Comet ones do. It may be because there are just so many more Mustangs still around than Comets.

This used damper SOLD for an amazing $791.99! (Can anyone explain how to verify the seller's claim that it came off Shelby #144?)

    DESCRIPTION:

This is a correct balancer for a 289 HiPo engine. The balancer is correct for a late 64 to early 65 Mustang and Shelby engines. It has a 4K date (Oct 64). The balancer originally came off of Shelby car # 144. It has the correct C5OE casting number. I have freshly glass beaded it and have NOT painted it to show the excellent condition of it. The rubber ring is in perfect condition with only very minor surface cracking. The seal surface is great with a very small wear groove.

I don't know if it's also correct as service replacement for a Boss 302, but many Boss guys run these distributors.

All the original Boss 302's I've seen have a vacuum advance distributor on them. I don't know what was used as a "service replacement" for the Boss. No doubt adding a HiPo dual point distributor with mechanical advance can improve the performance of a Boss.
