Did the April build, 1965 Styled Steel Wheels have the trim ring on them? If someone has it, can they post a close up picture of the 65 SS wheel from front and back?

I have access to a set of original SS wheels that have a trim ring. They originally came from a 66 'Stang. Are these the same that was on the 65? The wheels I can get are all chrome, ie, not black paint outs. Is this correct?

The S/S wheels used on 1965 models are fully chromed, and do not use the trim rings. The 1966 styled wheels require the trim rings to cover the rim area, which is not chromed.

You can probably find pictures of the simulated wire wheel covers by looking through the various Vintage Mustang catalogs.

This set of used BOSS rods was SOLD for $282.77 by eBay seller "jone67".

    DESCRIPTION:

Here is a set of 8 Boss 302 connecting rods. These have the 3/8" bolts and length of 5.155", the same as the 289 and 289 HiPo rods. These are interchangeable with the 289 HiPo rods, and are actually the service replacement for the HiPo. I bought them as a used set, but I do not know the history of them. All of the numbers match top and bottom, but all are not numbered consecutively 1-8, so I am not sure if they were all used in the same motor. They look to have been balanced at one time. They should be resized and balanced with new bolts before installing in your engine. Thanks for looking. NO RESERVE!

Does anyone else think that data plate pictured is a little too perfect?

Decoding the numbers on it indicate a convertable with a standard interior scheduled for the first week of February. Probably not an authentic GT either.

Qman, are you looking for a San Jose undercarriage, or one from another plant? There are differences... Have about 18,000 pictures currently. Will help to know your VIN, or about when the car was assemblied to show you what was taking place around the same time

Now that's impressive. Kudos to you, Jeff, for all of your efforts researching the cars.

This "NOS" Autolite carburetor was SOLD for $800.00 by eBay seller "blueovalteam".

    DESCRIPTION:

    289 HiPo MUSTANG / SHELBY AUTOLITE 600 CFM Carburetor / TAG# C5OF-L

This carburetor was purchased from a French FORD dealer in the Eighties, and has been mounted on a DETOMASO PANTERA, but it did not fit because of the spread bore of 351C intake.

It has not had gas in it for over 20 years. Before use, it needs to be disassembled, inspected, and all gaskets should be replaced. There is no waranty, and is sold as is.

Feel free to contact me if you need any other information. Thanks.

It seems the weather was nice throughout the Northeast on Christmas Eve...I decided to get up early, change the oil and filter, and take the 'Stang out for some drive time, too. It's hard to say if the favorable weather and road conditions will last much longer around here. We've had plenty of rainfall, but no snow storms yet.

A few years ago, the first substantial snow storm of the season hit on New Year's Eve. I got in my "last drive" of the season only a few hours before the snow started falling! It took several weeks for the snow and salt to clear off the roads after that storm.

Marcus Edell here from Fremont, CA, about 10 miles away from the old "San Jose" Plant, actually located in Milpitas, CA, now a mall.

Welcome, Marcus. Unfortunately, Metuchen was also dealt a similar fate, and DAP is no longer building Mustangs. Sadly, all three of the original Mustang assembly plants are retired.

The Latest discovery was a K Code Coupe that someone threw a 6 cylinder and three speed tranny in! It Still has a working 8,000 RPM Rally-Pac in it! So this one is the latest endeavor. I'm sure you will here alot from me!! Especially on the Wanted Parts section...

Here's hoping you can bring the car back to its' original condition.

Just FYI...According to Mustangs Plus, the book is still no longer available...

I have noticed with all this VIN on the block talk that no one has mentioned cars from the Metuchen plant. I assume that this plant would also have stamped K blocks. I have been told by an expert (so called maybe) that cars from the Metuchen plant didn't have the blocks stamped with the VIN, surely this can't be right?

289 High Performance cars from Metuchen do indeed have VIN stamped engines, and some have the transmission stamped as well. We still don't have full evidence that every K code engine was stamped, but we do know that all three Mustang assembly plants did put VIN stamps on 289 High Performance engines and transmissions.
