    DESCRIPTION:

WOW! Here's an NOS FoMoCo distributor that was SOLD for $495.00 by eBay seller "ggt500". The date code is 8G28, making it too late for a correct "numbers matching" engine, but is probably among the last castings to bear the FoMoCo marking before the transition to the AUTOLITE casting. It is no doubt a vintage, "first generation" service replacement part.

    DESCRIPTION:

This Auction Is For A FoMoCo (NOS) New Old Stock Distributor. When can you say you have ever seen one of these?

    Casting Number Is C5OF-12127-E.

Correct For All 289 Hi-Po Ford Motors.

This used pulley was SOLD for $152.50 by eBay seller "fastbackstack".

    DESCRIPTION:

This is the part that fits on the front of the alternator and holds the belt. The part number on the front of the pulley is C5AF 10A352-H.

This pulley is in good, original condition. There are no cracks or major blemishes. There are a few light surface rust spots here and there on the front and the back. The belt groove has surface rust and will leave some pitting once it has been sandblasted. Perhaps it could be milled a few thousandths of an inch to remove the pitting. The pits are not very deep. The alternator shaft hole is still clean and shiny with only a few very small surface rust spots.

Original alternator pulleys are hard to find. Reproductions are available but do not offer the same appearance. This is an original aternator pulley. These don't come around too often, so don't miss out on this one! Use this part to complete your classic Mustang restoration.

This used FoMoCo distributor was SOLD for $385.00 by eBay seller "fastbackstack".

    DESCRIPTION:

This is the part that fits in the front of the engine and controls the ignition timing. The part number on the stem of the distributor is "C50F-12131-B". The part number on the front of the distributor is "C50F E 6 A A" followed by "FoMoCo". This distributor was pulled from a 289 HiPo in a non-running 1965 Mustang.

This distributor is in good, original condition. There are no cracks or major blemishes. The aluminum housing does not have any major corrosion. It is covered with a little grease, but will clean up very nicely. All major components appear to be in place. It still has the Autolite points and condensor in it.

The distributor gear is in good condition with no chipped teeth. The distributor cap retaining clips are intact and in good condition. The wire is in fair condition. The casing has separated from the connector, but the wire is intact.

The shaft moves freely, but does have a little end-to-end play. This distributor has not been tested and may need to be rebuilt.

Original dual point distributors are hard to find. Reproductions are available but do not offer the same appearance. This is an original FoMoCo dual point distributor. These don't come around too often, so don't miss out on this one! Use this part to complete your classic Mustang restoration.

Ok thats great. What is your date code on the intake? I don't care when the engine was built. All I'am saying is check the date code and it will confirm everything.

Well, I finally had a chance to take the car out today. Although I know beyond any doubt the engine is original and correct for my car, I double checked some things under the hood just to make it "official". The intake is dated 5B10. As I mentioned previously, the engine was assembled 5B15, and the carburetor is a C5OF-L, dated 5BB. A carburetor tagged C5OF-L is listed as correct for use with a road draft tube. A classic case of "numbers matching"...

It was five years ago today when Hank and I launched this site. I think that through the site we have help educate the "public" about K-Codes and their place in Mustang Heritage. Remember the K-Code was the FIRST High-Performance Mustang.

Wow! It's amazing that it's been 5 years already. This site has certainly developed nicely, and since the change in servers, it has really been running better than ever. Congratualtions Hank and Marv!

Welcome, Joe. Your idea of building a "clone" engine should make driving your droptop a lot more fun. An exact reproduction of the original solid lifter cam has been produced, and you can contact Marv to buy one. Marv is the 289 HiPo "Registry Steward", and you can contact him directly from the email link on his profile. He is also your direct source for the Fourth Edition of The 289 High Performance Mustang. You should consider purchasing this book if you don't already own it. Your stock 289 heads can be reworked to HiPo specs by a qualified machine shop. Used dual point distributors are readily available. Your original crankshaft is durable and should be fine for the project. Pistons and rods are where you can make many choices depending on your budget.

I have a block with a casting number of C4OE-6015-F dated 5H26. Looking at page 6 of Tony's fourth edition it reads to me that this block must have been manufactured before August of 1964.

Not exactly...Ford continued to manufacture the C4OE blocks after 1964 to maintain a sufficient supply for service replacement use as needed.

    Quote from dang

How late in 1965 K kars would this block have been used? What is the latest date kar anyone has that still had an original block with this casting # and date.

The changeover to 6 bolt 289 engines using the "C5" block at the car assembly plants happened in August, 1964, as stated in Tony's book. No cars manufactured in 1965 used a C4OE-F block.
