How can I validate it is a true GT, etc?

    Any feedback would be welcome.

We've gone over this GT question many times here. We know that the earliest build date for a factory GT Mustang is probably mid February of 1965. Since your car has a scheduled build date of April 1st, it could be an original GT.

Use the site's ADVANCED SEARCH feature and type appropriate keywords to find out all the information on this site regarding GT Mustangs. Don't forget to also check the ARCHIVES box as well...

After 2 months of dealing with a no good deadbeat, I have heard every excuse why I should give him more time to arrange financing.

Wow, that's amazing. It makes no sense that someone attempts to buy a car when they don't have the money first... 8)

The red one up on the hill by the tent was sweet, it also won its class. you can see a pic of it on Carlisle site under Ford winners.

That car was a dead ringer for my '64 HiPo Sports Coupe that was stolen way back in 1974. I never found a trace of what became of it, but it was great to see one just like the one I used to have...

BTW sorry Gene you didn't win the SHO class

I don't enter the show at Carlisle expecting to win anything. It's no secret that it's a better deal to pay the car show entry fee, because it covers admission for three days for two persons, complete with "prime" parking inside the grounds. It works out to be cheaper than paying to park each day, and having to walk to the grounds, along with the admission charge to enter the fairgrounds...

This year, the Taurus SHO class was way too big with almost 40 cars entered. There should have been at least a stock class and a modified class, and maybe a division for the first and second generation cars (V-6 engines) and another division for the third generation models (V-8's). It's unrealistic to expect anyone to have to look at that many cars, remember which is the best one to vote for, and then have to do the same thing for the twenty or so other classes that are on the ballot.

What really disappointed me the most was that the car that took first place in the SHO class didn't even have the hood open during the show. I spent three days cleaning and detailing the engine of my car, which is an all-stock 147,000 mile unrestored daily driver, and it was spotless. It goes to show how participant ballot voting doesn't always make sense.

Kudos to Brian Walshe who brought his K to the show- the only K there.

It might have been the only K code Mustang, but there were twice as many K code Fairlanes there...Who would have figured the HiPo Fairlanes would out number the Mustangs? SHEESH! :(

So far, 2 very different results. Are you both running the same setup as mine? Don't know how much more gas I'll burn at 75. I've actually heard from some Mustang owners that their cars get better gas mileage at around 80 MPH than at 70 MPH. Seems wierd to me, but maybe there is something to it...

I run about 3,200-3,400 at those speeds.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the radial tires on my car are on the "small" side of the spec, and account for the higher RPM range as well as a higher indicated speed than I'm actually driving...I plan to get some "taller" rubber eventually, and this will change the 4th gear numbers I posted here.

These tires came with the car, and were barely used when I bought the car about 5 years ago. That's the main reason I haven't replaced them yet. You can figure my readings are off by as much as 15% because of this.

I think that without the benefit of overdrive, you'll get the best economy vs speed if you cruise around 3000-3500 RPM or so...

If I keep at it maybe the car will be there next year, thanks again, Larry.

There's nothing like the deadline of a car show to push a project forward to completion! It would be great if you finish your car in time for next year's All Fords Nationals at Carlisle. If you and 8-10 others actually decide to bring their Kars, we could have a 289 High Performance Mustang Class on the showfield!

The All Fords Nationals at Carlisle is always a great event! The weather was mostly favorable, but was much warmer than most years. There was no need for sweatshirts or jackets at night. I'm already booked to stay 3 days for next year's event.

It's sad to think that even after trying for 5 years now, we still can't get a good turnout from members of this site. There are plenty of running K code Mustangs located within a reasonable distance of Carlisle, PA. The show directors at Carlisle are more than willing to acommodate the K code Mustang as a seperate class on the showfield, and we have not taken advantage of it...

Since nobody here had an interest to bring out their K code Mustangs this year, I decided to bring my 1993 Taurus SHO. There is a separate class for the Taurus SHO that was established many years ago at Carlisle because a group of owners banded together to make it happen. It was started back in the 90's when a lot of them were still in the hands of the original owners.

Considering they are aging rapidly, and some are almost 20 years old by now, I thought the interest in them would have dropped off, making the show class die due to lack of participation. Heck, I figured I'd be helping to keep the SHO class "alive" by putting another car on the showfield...

Geez, was I wrong! This year, there were over 37 cars entered in the Taurus SHO class, and it had to be the largest turnout of them, ever. Last year, there were around 22 or 24 entered, and everyone thought that couldn't happen again. Entries are growing again each year. It wasn't that long ago when there were only 6 to 10 SHO's seen on the showfield at Carlisle.

I've been looking for a set. I thought if I new what they looked like I could have a set bent. Just not sure what the radius of the bend is and how long they are.

NOS pieces do show up sometimes, but the reproduction ones are readily available at a cheap price from the usual Mustang parts vendors. I'd bet you can't get a custom made set that will look any better than NOS or a reprodution, and custom made parts usually cost a lot more...

    Hello and welcome...

I rev my car frequently, and it pulls hard through 6000+ RPMs with no falling flat until around 7200 or so. My engine is all stock and has never been rebuilt, with around 90,000 original miles.

If your engine is loosing power at 5000 RPMs, something is probably wrong. The ideas you listed seem like a good place to start. Good luck, and keep us posted with any developments.

Any of you guys seen these things over there in the US?

Sure...There was a bunch of them featured at the All Fords Nationals at Carlisle a couple of years ago. Speaking of Carlisle, I have to finish packing so I can get on the road to Carlisle for this year's edition. The weather is going to be summer like with temperatures in the 80's.
