That's the best way to find a car sometimes. (That's how I found mine.)

But, finding a '67 K Code Mustang in any condition is a really big deal. Nice going, and good luck with your project.

On one of our old race cars, we used a stick that had .567 lift and 245 degrees duration ground on a 108 lobe center that cleared. Thinking that we could improve things, we had it ground on a 106 centerline. Luckily, we checked everything and in this case the valves hit the pistons. When deviating from stock, you never want to take anything for granted. Check, check and re-check.

    Sounds like some good advice...<img src=images/icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

I am trying to find a correct driveline for my 65K (December). My sources said the T10 was correct and I have located one. Is this a mistake?

    <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>

A close ratio Ford Top Loader is the correct 4 speed transmission for the 1965 K Code Mustangs. Special aluminum T-10's were used in the GT-350 Shelby Mustang.

This Kar is back on Ebay again and the seller has raised the starting bid price by $4,000 to $59,900:

    Now that's how to sell a car! <img src=images/icon_smile_8ball.gif border=0 align=middle>

    I would try Craig at:

That's right, and besides, he's a member of this message board.

Anyone tell me what the second warranty tag, on the black background is for and where it is located thanks.

    <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>

That photo of the Warranty plate is likely a mistake by the eBay seller. The VIN decodes to a Raven Black 1963 Galaxie 500 two door hardtop built at the Twin Cities Assembly Plant. The engine code is "G", which is the 406 High Performance engine. That's a rare Galaxie!

    <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>

I believe that somebody needs to have a good look at the data plate. He is stating that the axle is an "H" code which is a 3.89 with limited slip. To my knowledge, a limited slip rear end was not available in a Hipo car in 1965. This was not available until 1966.

That's right, Fred. The limited slip axle wasn't available in 1965 on the High Performance cars...Here's another contradiction that was posted today on the eBay listing regarding the rear ratio:

<i>Q: What is the size of the rear end and what is the ratio??? Thanks: AL

A: Hi, The rear end size is 9" and it is a 3.25 ratio. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thank you! </i>

    Nice looking car though <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

    <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>

That's interesting, Bob. The assembly date on my engine is also the same date as the scheduled build date, "15B", which also happens to be today's date!

    <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>

If that's the case, your car most likely was not actually built on the 15th.

    <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>

Exactly right...The invoice date is March 31, 1965. I'm guessing the car was built late February/early March. By the time the dealer got it and invoiced it, it was almost April!

    <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>

    Greg,

Your car is in the time frame that the Arvinode exhaust system was used...I have the system on my Koupe and am very happy with the sound. They offer a concourse and a standard system.

The price is quite reasonable as well...

For the newer members of this forum, I'm re posting this from the site archives...It originally appeared here in 2005.

On February 15, 1965, Ford's Metuchen assembly line scheduled construction of a Wimbledon White Mustang coupe, VIN 5T07K134663...Besides the 289 High Performance Engine, Top Loader Four Speed, and 9" Rear with 3:50 Gears, the car was built with Disc Brakes, 4 Way Flashers, Rally Pac, S/S Wheels, Backup Lights, Visibility Group, AM Radio, Seat Belts, and a Heavy Duty Battery.

The original owner was 62 years old when he ordered this High Performance Mustang in December, 1964, from Lee Heffner Ford of Temple, PA. The car was delivered and invoiced March 31, 1965, just in time for his birthday, which is in March. The invoice was just under $3700.00, certainly not cheap considering the base 6 cylinder Mustang was only $2320.00.

Now it's February 15, 2011, and this unrestored Mustang is still running strong with just under 95,000 miles on the clock. The car drives great and is rattle free. Unfortunately, the original owner is now deceased. He was just one month short of seeing his 101st birthday. The date of death is ironically, February 15th, 2003, the same day as the scheduled build date of his car. He was a remarkable man, and had a deep interest in his former car to the end. The ONLY reason he sold the car at age 98 was because he finally couldn't drive it anymore, although he was still driving when he was 97!

I've remained in close contact with his daughter, who also loves the car, and often drove it herself, especially when her father got into his 90's. I've been to see her many times since he passed, and one time when I visited, she asked if she could take the car out for a run. I was happy to say yes. As she sat in the driver's seat, she said she felt that her father was looking down at her through the windshield, with a big smile on his face...

    <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>

The engine assembly date could can also be after the car's door tag date code. The latter is a scheduled date and cars could easily miss the scheduled date. On my 63 Fairlane, the engine assembly date code and the car's date code were the same.

That's interesting, Bob. The assembly date on my engine is also the same date as the scheduled build date, "15B", which also happens to be today's date!
