    Hey David.

Always good to hear from you :D. There is no mention of Rangoon Red that I have found in the paperwork. I know that the earliest (so far) the car was changed to RR was in 1981 as I have 1981 dated photos of the car in RR included in the paperwork. I'm yet to contact the owner of the car who bought it in 1979, but I have his details and he's still with us. I'm guessing he's the one who changed the colour as there is a ton of receipts with his name on them, so I'm gathering he rebuilt the car, maybe, a very big maybe, he has the original door plate.

I sent a photo of the door plate to someone in here and they told me it's a repo plate.

What was the name of the guy you bought the car from?

Ahhh history, it's a beautiful thing.

    Take care David.

    Best regards aways,

THIS 65 K CODE GT CONVERTIBLE CAR IS IN VERY GREAT CONDITION. IT HAS A SOLID LIFTER MOTOR. NOT SURE IF THE NUMBERS MATCH. FOUR SPEED TRANSMISSION, RALLY PACK GUAGES, RED LINE TIRES, 4 SPEED, DUAL POINT DISTRIBUTER, NEWER RESTORATION, POWER STEERING, DISC BRAKES, POWER TOP. A GREAT RUNNING CAR.

Power steering in a 65 K, reversing lights, gold motor?? Besdes these things, it looks quite nice.

    Hi all.

Just have received some more history.

The original owner is sending me the original service manual for the car as well as a book that was only available with high performance cars (no idea what it is).

He's also said some mods he did was put traction bars on the car (mine has 66 Shelby TB's, not sure if he put them on) and twin 4 barrel carbies!!! He reckons you could hear the car coming 5 miles away with both the carbs open. He said the car was too fast. It was the only car he had that he was too scared to really open up. Sounds like he was quite the hoon in his days. Wonder what happened to the twin 4 barrel carb setup?

    René

    Hey Bo.

That used to happen??? Wow, I'm surprised to say the least!!!

    Regards,

    René

    Hi Bo.

I'm not sure the plate was changed, but if the car was Honey Gold and the colour on the plate says "J" = Rangoon Red, then it would have to have been changed. Anyway, see the pic of the door plate above.

The original owner received a Honey Gold car from the dealer.

The owner also confirmed that the interior was originally black pony, which is what's in the car. The car was inspected by a Mustang/Shelby expert in the USA who also confirmed that the interior was original.

    Hi Everyone

Before Mustangs & Shelbys I owned GT Falcons. Here is a XAGT Hardtop I owned in 2003. Was a genuine 20k mile car.

    Hey Rohan.

That is really a beautiful car. That would be worth a stack the way the market is at the moment.

Just curious - what color does your door tag call out for?

Door tag says it's Rangoon Red, so the tag has been replaced at some stage.

I will definitely leave the car as red at the moment. I could probably leave the kar for another 15 years before it needs anything done to it, besides my wife loves the red and doesn't want it changed. I love it as it is. It's actually kind of cool knowing more of it's history.

    Hi Murf.

That's a great story. I'd love to see some pics of your car. Did you find any problems with paint fade?

To be honest, I think I'm in a state of shock about my kar. I thought it was original in just about every way. Not really sure where to go from here.

    René

    WOW!!!!!

I just got of the phone with the original owner of my Kar. My kar is Rangoon Red. I just found out it was originally Honey Gold. I have all the original paperwork and can't find any mention of the colour.

I have always wanted my kar to be original. Now I have to toss up the idea of respraying the kar to it's original colour. I don't think I've seen a mustang in Honey Gold before. The original owner said he had the kar resprayed twice as the colour kept fading.

The gentleman has been kind enough to give me his email address and he's going to send me some of the original photos he has of the kar.

I'm totally blown away and wanted to share this with you guys.

    Thanks.

I like "The Road Warrior" way better than "Mad Max". Didn't care at all for "Beyond Thunder Dome". Amazing that car (and the stunt people) survived.

    Hi Lyle.

Have a read of the Mad Max links above. They had two cars. One was trashed in a scene for the movie. The other survived in some yard somewhere until someone found it. Quite an interesting story. I thought people would have more respect for cars used in movies as in saving the left overs. I guess in hindsight it's easy.

Funny you mention Thunderdome. That movie was made specifically for the American market. I thought it sucked as did many people. They had a good formula, they should have stuck with it.

    Hi Rick.

I have an April 65 K. I'd be interested in knowing what parts you have. I'm mainly interested in a HIPO fuel ump and original HIPO fan. I'm all they way over here in OZ.

    Thanks for your time.

The Cobra's were quite tame. I believe Ford Australia used the Cobra to get rid of the outgoing falcon bodies. The 351 engine only produced around 217bhp which isn't a lot for that type of car considering the 1976 XB GT was producing 290bhp, again not really that much.

Here's more info on the Cobra:

Rene - any idea what that car (truck??) was?

    Hey Ralph.

The interceptor was in the second movie as well, you are quite correct. The panel wagon (we call them panel vans here) off the top of my head was a 1975 Holden Sandman. I haven't seen the movie since I was a kid. I remember an arm hanging of the roof rack which totally freaked me out, probably the reason why I haven't seen it since.

I think this is the one you're talking about:

Check out this link for a history of the Mad Max Interceptor:

There's stories going around that a new Mad Max movie is going to be made. Anyone hear any info on this?
