Jimmy,
FWIW, the original dipstick for 6S1757 has no FoMoCo logo, only 'ADD' and 'FULL'.

Just to throw in another opinion...Had a Pertronix that worked fine for a few years then died. When back to points and haven't had a problem since, they work. Not convinced the Pertronix QC is that great.
If you decide to switch, carry your intact original dual point plate, or a spare Pertronix, in the trunk for a quick fix in case of a failure.
Quote from sfm6s356The valve covers were brand spanking new, with very minor shelf wear. I don't know enough about the die cast ones to know what I'm looking at. I could NOT find any kind of Ford part number on the units, so without the box, I'd say they're worthless.
It's still worth trying to figure out if these are early NOS replacement closed letter valve covers. If so, they are worth well more than $100. They won't have any numbers on them, can you take some pics?
Quote...I've turned them well over 10,000rpm and had no problems...

I agree with Fred. The only issue I see is the original baffles have been removed and the bosses they rivet to have been ground down. Someone was likely planning to use them with roller rockers.

One of the previous owners of my 66 GT350 converted it into a full spec B/P racer in 1972. He told me routinely shifted at 7K, the engine was stock except for some mild head porting and had been balanced.
What do the top of the rod bolts look like? Rectangular or oval (football) shaped? Basically if rectangular they are HiPo, if oval they are Boss.
Quote from J_SpeegleIf it were me I would contact Jim Cowles at http://www.shelbyparts.com/index.html. He has made some short runs in the past of correct ones
Ditto that.........
Well done Bo! Please let me know when you are about to go to Sweden this summer, I'll give you my shopping list.....

OK, I emailed the seller and asked if the unibody of this car is the 6F09K donor car and what happened to the original 6S2073 unibody. Here is his reply:
QuoteCorrect. We took off the Shelby plate and took a picture of that number. It looks like an attempt was made to alter the F at one time. Probably in the '70's when the car was rebuilt. We loosen the passenger side fender and I have pictures of that enclosed. My understanding is that there wasn't much left of the wrecked body. The engine was already gone. The rest of the Shelbly parts were taken off to be used on this car. It probably went to the crusher. The last digit is an 8. I will make a note of that on the listing today.
The pics he sent were just the fender VINs showing 6F09K266628.
I don't know if this car has been discussed before but thought it might be useful to enter the info in the K registry. Looks like 6S2073 was rebodied using 6F09K266629 sometime in the 70's and is now for sale on ebay:
Fred, your theory is as good as any I've heard but I wonder about the 67 GT350s. I've seen a number of these without original closed emission systems. Dave
Quote from 6hypo5convI went ahead and ordered a repro coil from VA Mustang, the guy assured me that they were from a good run, and they had not been getting any back, so between it and my 2 restored originals I should be set.
Hmm, guess that means there have been some "bad runs".
Quote from jbarela...every pic I have seen of 66 shelbys shows the oil cap with vent tube hose going to the bottom of the air cleaner?? are you sure??
Yep, AFAIK all 65-66 GT350's had the closed crankcase emission system with a hose connecting the oil breather cap to the air cleaner bottom.
Just for reference the original air cleaner bottom for 6S1757 is dated 6C. As Bo mentions a 6A would work great too.
QuoteThis testing procedure is valid for most automotive coils....
I have read and heard from several auto electric people that the procedure described by Tom above is not reliable for testing coils. In fact, they have said there is no reliable bench test. I have personally had a coil that was dead and still passed those tests.
Can anyone comment on this? Auto electric stuff makes my head spin.
Oops, forgot that part. Thanks Jeff.
3.89 was standard for 65-66 GT350.
My 66 originally had 3.89 gears but I repalced them with 4.11's in the late 80's because both the ring and pinion had chips. For some reason 3.89's were on a big backorder back then. Anyway the difference between 3.89 and 4.11 really isn't that much IMO, about 200RPM @ 60 mph. Either one is winding pretty good at freeway speeds.
Outstanding work! I'm considering getting a Warmoth neck to modify one of my own guitars.
