Quote from rickmustangGood question for the Shelby SAAC forum, but that is a '66 Shelby over-the-counter optional wheel that many put on '66 Shelbys. Rick
it certainly appears to be just that. According to the last SAAC registry, that wheel was sold over the counter (retail), but was not sold as an option from the factory on new GT-350's.

Quote from GregMDisplay MoreI would like to build a correct engine for my car. I am not opposed to going to the aftermarket for some items for the build but want to stay true .........."
So what to do about
crankshaft
rocker arms
timing gears
timing chain
rods
pistons
fuel pump
Thanks
please give due consideration to using NEW crank, rods, and pistons. In other words all new rotating assembly. You can source all the above thru a supplier like summit.com at reasonable prices and will end up with an engine that is still true to the K code spirit. Plus you can rev it to the redline without undue worry.

very kind comment, but I probably "stole" that info from your own post & posted it elsewhere without giving you due credit.

great story of your Mustang obsession timeline. Please post some photos when you get the chance.
Welcome !!!

just to point out the obvious, there are modern replacement connecting rods that can be used if needed or desired.
I'm all for originality, but it PAYS to remember these parts are 45+ years old, and every K code owner I know likes to spin the motor to 6000 rpm or beyond. That said, I'm still using my original rods. But If I was racing, I wouldn't hesitate to use a new rotating assembly.

Is that so difficult ?
Really now, honesty isn't that complicated.

with regards to a cars value, it would certainly make correct date codes meaningless to be able to replace incorrect codes on a given part.
just another instance where the likelihood of misrepresentation is enormous.

the lower shifter boot has a wide lip that wraps all the way around and sits on top of the tunnel sheetmetal. when the top boot is attached on top of that one I don't see how any fumes could make it past the combined lips. Of course the fit of the top boot must be tight around the shifter handle
now thru the firewall area or trunk area, that's a different story.

Quote"............ A repro door tag to me is a red flag that someone along the line has made some changes to bring a higher price and then throw away the orignal to conceal what has been done. Otherwise, why not at least keep the original door tag as a souvenir?
things are often changed on cheap used cars w/o an evil intent. Only when prices rise does every little detail out place seem strange.
At one time these cars sold for a few hundred dollars and cheaply keeping them on the road was all that mattered, not posterity.

I put a wheelskin leather covering on mine to help with the grip issue (arthritus). It looks good and works great w/o changing the wheels size permanently. Their website photos don't do their priduct justice. And they don't have any photos of old Mustangs with a wheelskin either (yet). Maybe I'll send them one.
They are very thin, but aid dramatically. (Steve McQueen had his wheel wrapped in one for the movie Bullitt).
One more question for the wheel guy. what is your average turn-around time for wheels like ours?

one question, does your process add measurably to the circumference of the steering wheel outer rim, or, perhaps better put, does it feel "thicker"

Had to dig my restored 3.89:1 nine inch pumpkin out of storage today for installation and am feeling every arthritic joint in my body. Would like to put a "number of lbs = x amount of pain" on my suffering.
anybody know the weight?

Quote from Bill GZRay - I looked at your photo display. A lot of neat stuff. Do you have interest in selling one of your Cobra intakes? Please e-mail me at run1ski2@aol.com
Thanks.

many of the parts I have in the "parts" album are just photos I have gathered for my own reference. Alas, I have no spare Cobra intakes.
