Here is a 65 K code Koupe listed on Ebay by seller "2013stang2005" with a Buy-It-Now of $37,990.00 or make offer:

We are proud to offer this super rare 1965 Mustang K code (HiPo) for sale, it is one of the earliest K code coupe sold new in Canada, it was ordered in august 1964 and sold in october 1964.

It was sold as a 65 and so called "early 65". It was built before the fancy options available such as the pony interior and GT decor group.
It is a pure and basic early 65 and this one is a factory radio delete, a true enthusiast car !

we have his original bill of sale from august 19th of 1964 as well as his original owner manual, we do have some documents that prove that it always stayed in the same county.

Its a true matching number car, the VIN is stamped on the engine bloc. The heads are true HiPo heads with the dual pin above the 289. The casting number from the engine and the heads are period correct as well so there is no doubt to confirm this engine to be 100% his original engine.

This car have been recently restored with new pieces of floor, the body have been sanded to bare metal, it absolutely rust free and laser straight, a very nice wimbledon white paint (factory color) have been applied.

The interior is mostly original and looks good, it still have his original seats.

The engine have been redone, it have 185 psi on all cylinders and it sounds super healthy.

It have fresh tires, brakes, shocks, exhaust as well...

Remember that only 1% of the Mustang production was K code, it is hard to find and even harder to find a documented matching number car and this one is one of a few sold new to Canada...

We own this car and it will be sold with a clean title at our name, the original bill of sale from 64, the original owner manual, a "K code" plate that was used by the previous owner, documents to prove it stayed in the same county.

If you are a US buyer, the purchase will be straight forward, there is NO taxes to pay when you will cross the border, you will just have to pay your state tax and pass your state mechanical inspection to register it at your name. we will help you to import it.

If you are overseas it will be super simple as well, it is our main activity to sells cars overseas, you can buy serenely and stress free, we will handle all the process.

We have more than 75 HD pictures and videos.

Do not hesitate if you have any questions.

Since this one is painted in what appears to be original ford blue, do you think it was originally for a '66? I have never been able to make sense out of the stamp on these.

    The gold 65 versions don't seem to have a stamp. I always see 5A, 6A, 6C and 7A on the 66 and 67 versions.

From all of the stamped air cleaner bases that I have observed, the 5A is the only one with a 5 in the stamping. I believe that was discussed previously in the second generation of this forum but that is not available. Therefore my thoughts agrees with yours in that all early 66 Kars before January 1966 would have had a 5A stamp making the blue color correct.

Going further here, I believe that the gold unstamped bases would have had the double hump top portion as they would have been prior to January 1965. I am sure that there will be some variances in this due to using leftover earlier pieces on Kars produced after January 1965.
