Do your due diligence on this flywheel. I do not see the ground area on the counterweight where there should be a Brinnel test mark. Therefore I am in doubt as to this being a true Hipo flywheel. A better picture of the counterweight would be in order here.

This is René from Australia here. I just found the new site after doing some searches and stumbling on the address from th Vintage Mustang Forum.
Thanks to the admins for getting this site up and running again, I missed it and was worried all of that golden info might have been lost.
All the best moving forward.

PS May I make a suggestion and I'm not sure if this is possible, but if this occurs again, maybe send out an email when you have a new home since you have all our email addresses?
Rene, Welcome back as I too am glad to see this site going again. It has been back up since March 2019. Your email suggestion is a good one and Niko had already planned on sending emails to former users of the site and did that yesterday with a good response rate.

Display MoreHello!
I was on the old forum, but dont remeber my nick..
I own one of 4 known 66 T5 K-Code GT convertibles.
My car war special ordered by the owner of a German Ford dealership.
After going thru several hands an subsequently sitting for more than 20 years I aquired it with a mere 16.000 km.
Still sporting its original top, engine and drivetrain it is a real joy to drive - but I try to add as few km as possible. Actual reading, just shy of 20.000
Michael
I had one of those four known 66 Hipo T-5 GT convertibles for a few years. It is dark Ivy Green with black luxury (pony) interior. As I understand it is now in a museum in Switzerland. I regret having sold it as it too had its original drive train. The downside to the Kar when I bought it was the severe rust issues. I did replace panels with mostly NOS parts at the time and it came out good.
I am happy for you that you have such a time capsule of a Kar.
-Fred-
Display MoreHey,
i'm going to put my Kar in a hangar which unfortunately has plenty of dust.
Unfortunately we do not have as many possibilities to store our cars as you have in the States.
I was thinking about buying a "capsule" for the car to protect it from dust and humidity.
Does anyone have experience with such capsules?
I have several customers of mine that use them successfully.

The is only one edition of the book. Yes, there are mistakes in the book. Nothing too serious, but bothersome. For example, HiPo cranks were not stamped with hardness markings. They were visually inspected for nodularity -- hence the polished area on the early HiPo cranks. Also, C3AE-E heads are not HiPo heads. The PDF Edition has all the corrections incorporated. Plus, if new errors are discovered, new PDFs are posted, which anyone who has purchased the PDF Edition can download and replace that file for free. Details are on the website.
Bob,
As I recall, your book represents 17 years of research on your part putting it together. Am I correct here? The printed books used to come with a separate correction sheet. Do they still come with one?
On another subject, I am sure that Bob meant to type C5AE-E for the heads above and not C3AE-E. I chose not to correct it without your knowledge.
-Fred-
Display MoreJason.
Ive always been under the impression C5AZ-6A666-A was the correct PCV, whether it was for a 2 or 4b or 289 special (aka hipo)
lets see what the brains smarter than ours come up with.

PHILL BERESFORD
MELBOURNE.
AUSTRALIA.
The C5AZ 6A666 A and the C5AZ 6A666 A1 are the same part. This is the correct valve and I have a few NOS ones of these and I will get a better look at them when I return on Wednesday. I have seen the number with the A1 suffix on the Ford box but the actual part number is with the suffix A only. There is really not a Ford part number C5AZ 6A666 A1, only the C5AZ 6A666 A.

Here is a 66 K code fastback listed on Ebay by seller "onepennyleft" with a Buy-It-Now of $95,950.00 or make offer:This may be one of the most beautiful and unique examples of a NUMBERS MATCHING HiPo K-code fastback available today.
* mega dollar Rotisserie Restoration
* Concours show quality presentation – no wear
* Engine Vin #’s matching 271hp “HiPo 289”
* code #4 Silver Frost
* K-code / High Performance drive train with Automatic
* Special Handling Suspension Package
- quick steering gear box
- heavy duty front & rear springs
- thicker front sway bar
* Disc Brakes
* Rally Rack – HiPo 8000rpm
* Deluxe simulated wood wheel
* Style Steel Wheels ………. all 5
* BFG Redline radial tires …. all 5
* GT “design elements” and Pony seats were added for that extra sizzle (it is not a factory GT)
How rare is this ONE ?
1966 saw 30% fewer K-codes built than in prior year 1965 with only 5,469 units being built comprising coupes, convertibles & fastbacks.
Of that amount approximately 2,818 were “fastbacks”, 1,729 were coupes and 922 were convertibles.
The special HiPo automatic
1966 was the 1st year you could get an Automatic Transmission in the HiPo. This was a special beefed up unit with stronger internals to take the punishment Ford knew these cars would have to endure. HiPo transmissions are easily identified by the large “C” cast into the servo cover.
While the exact number of K-codes with automatics is unknown, it is possible to estimate that number using statistical extrapolation.
All that is required is a representative sample and fortunately using the “known cars” listed in the HiPo Registry we have a rather large representative sample to work with.
Based on the population of known HiPo’s, it is estimated that only 25% came with the automatic transmission and further estimated that less than 700 of those would have been installed in fastbacks – here we are talking about non-Shelby K-codes.
In a year in which 607,568 Mustangs were built, you can appreciate how exceedingly rare a K-code fastback is…. then couple that with an automatic transmission and it’s even more rare, AND finally, on top of that this one is Silver Frost, one of the rarest colors.
RARE, code #4 SILVER FROST
The color Silver Frost is one of the rarer colors for 1966 Mustangs. Best estimates have always put it in the 3% to 4% of total production. These estimates are backed up in the HiPo Registry in which their population of known cars shows 4% of the cars registered to be Silver Frost. Based on statistical modeling my best guess for Silver Frost K-code fastbacks would be 85 cars, reduced to 28 cars if we are talking “automatics”.
The likelihood of finding an exact match that is also this original and in this condition is probably zero. In the highly coveted world of K-codes, this one qualifies as one of the more unique and in my mind one of the most eye-popping examples possible.https://www.ebay.com/itm/184092300735?ul_noapp=true
-Fred-
Here are some easily noticeable issues with this Kar especially considering the high price being asked and these are items that cost quite a bit to correct:
Carburetor is a clone
Transmission has reproduction "C" servo which makes possible correct transmission suspect
Undercarriage painted red which to my understanding is incorrect for a Dearborn unit
Incorrect radiator
Incorrect fuel pump
1965 standard engine mount setup
The seller does mention the GT “design elements” and Pony seats were added for that extra sizzle (it is not a factory GT)
