Here is an Ebay auction for a used Motorcraft Hipo distributor by Ebay member "oldiron36" with a starting bid of $150.00:

I bought this in the 90's for a project that never came through, now it is time to clean out the garage. This is a 289 HiPo mechanical advance distributor. I never had it on an engine, so I can't say it does work, but it looks to be in great condition. The shaft turns free with only the drag from the points. Looks to have new points in it (I seem to remember buying new ones for it). It has been painted aluminum (not by me).

Zed, I have done both full and partial. If your doors are still on the car leave them on for alignment or reinstall and align to original quarters. I have found that after market quarters can be a 1/4 longer and won't fit without body work. Ford sheet metal is the best option if you are not on a budget. Don't cut anything off the car until you are sure of fit and how to proceed. I do no over lapping seams, I butt weld all seams, water can get between the over lap and cause rust and pop out down the road. I have done a HIPO Fastback and 2 HIPO coupes . I can send you some pics if you like. Email me at torcobra@zoomtown.com

Excellent advice on the butt welding rather than overlapping seams.

Hello all - just joined the site. I do not own a Mustang, but do own a 289 hipo engine in a 302 block, so have some questions to be asked in the coming weeks, which I hope the group can answer. I posted a couple in the "chat" section to start. I believe I am in the right place, lol. Look forward to chatting more. Mike

    Welcome aboard, Mike!1

I hope that we will be able to help you out here.

Maybe you will want to someday get the appropriate Mustang for your engine.

1967 Exhaust Manifold $800 plus shipping. I have a set 0f 67 Calipers rebuilt by SSC for $350. Thanks Terry

These 1967 manifolds are a tough find these days. Yes, they will fit 1963 to 1966 as well but the numbers are wrong. The 1967 manifolds are physically different as they are notched to clear the 1967 Thermactor system which was only required for a Hipo 289 in 1967 in California. I wonder how many 1967 Thermactor equipped Hipo 289 Mustangs there were and how many remain? If there are any, I have the correct Hipo carburetors for that application for both automatic and standard transmissions.

What was used to retain the front upper shock mount bracket bolts on 65-66 mustangs to hold them in place until the bracket & nuts were installed (three per side) . was it a tin clip as was used on rear wheel studs to keep the rear brake drum on after a wheel/tire was removed or some other type of retainer, thanks.

There is nothing to actually hold the studs in place, The studs just slip into the slot and the metal below it holds the stud up from underneath.

Here is a 65 K code Koupe listed on Ebay by seller "matt1964mustang" with a starting bid of $3,900.00:

1965 mustang coupe rare K Code 289 Hipo four speed. The car is rusty! It has a title, original door tag. The car is a factory 289 hipo car K code Wimbledon White with bright red interior. I do have a 6 cyl body that the some of the factory parts could be used on this car. Structure mainly. This is your chance to own a part of mustang history. Unfortunately the drive train is not with this car but is obtainable with cash and looking. I have found drive trains for three of these cars myself. Swap meets are your friends for HIPO cars! Thank you for looking. The luck winner must put down a 1000 deposit with in 48 hours and contact me with arrangements to pay the remainder.
