Here we have a good used set of 289 HiPo style Mexican 302 Cast Iron Heavy Duty Main Bearing Caps. Ford thought it necessary to use these non-tapered main caps in their HiPo engines from '64 to '67 motors and then put them back into service with the rare Mexican 302. The crankshafts were basically the same although it was checked for density of cast iron to assure more strength and durability then given a mark to validate the Brinnell Hardness Test. When used with the thick balancer and the additional counterbalance behind the timing chain Ford used these thicker main bearing caps.
Heavy duty design just like the 289 hipo these are a perfect exchange with Ford strength at half the price. You will find these clean undamaged units are unmodified and are ready to go to work for you. Again these are solid design non tapered these Mexican 302 were hand picked by Ford for there heavy duty crankshaft application. These heavier duty design main caps offered the strength Ford engineers felt was needed to overcome the excessive demands made on the it by the HiPo motor.
This is a good used set has been inspected and shows no signs of cracks, welds, or repairs.
