Get you some tire intertube rubber and cut you a piece.Do the same with cardboard or wrapping paper for the other as no one makes them. They haven't got that anal yet!
-
Post pictures so you can see what you have and how it's modified?

I've drag raced for years and always liked high oil pressure as I always used 20W50.Your pressure is OK by me as I would rather have it high then low.Usually if oil pressure drops by more then 20lbs after warm up something is wrong in the motor!

The 63-64 style and can also use the 65 plates?
-
Looking for a nice set of 289 Hipo plates that fit the Fairlane.Anybody have any or know of any for sale?
-
That's what I've always used is the 3M one inch tape. The install can be painful if you've ever did it before so take my advice if you don't want to really ruin the stainless trim.Take the back off the tape and stick it to the stainless piece and leave the back on the side that goes against the car.Install will be alot easier and you can get it in the right place. If not all you'll do is make a mess of paint and trim plus the taped side you'll never know it's there once the trim screws are put in!

Yes it is without someone raping you!

Yes the underhood black is perfect and another great one is the Satin black from Rustoleum.I've used both and worked out nice!

My July/Aug built 1964 Hipo Mustang has a C5 distributor with a 4?? date code and is all original motor and car has low original drag strip miles mostly but anything is possible!...I did forget to mention that my car is a Dearborn car and maybe other plants did different installs.

Those numbers are to early for your car and not correct for 64.5 Mustang. You need a C5 distributor with a 4?? date code
-
Don't really appreciate the comment as I pay what I think something is worth and no more.Never have and never will!

Fred, does your book provide the camshaft manufacturer names?I read somewhere that he had 4 different camshaft manufacturers at that time 64-65 like he did with all his spec stuff for the cars?
-
The crank is sold and I boxed it so I didn't get any pics.
-
There were lots of differences in the R model motors as Shelby did alot of good tech work at the time.Four unique power plants that varied but 3 used his aftermarket or contracted camshafts.Haven't found the info on lift and duration I'm looking for but maybe at a later date I can update this thread.
-
They were hand picked and raced prepped for hard use.The biggest difference is they were tuftriden and grooved.I understand that the brinnell test had to be better then 72.I've only seen 7 of these cranks in 35 years of racing and are hard to find. One last year brought $2600

I have a NOS R model 289 Hipo Shelby crank that I want to sell. These were done for Shelby at great expense but I will take $1000 OBO?
-
Don't know anybody who needs the frame mounts only a bunch of people who need the bottoms!
-
The bottom portion is all that is needed and they have NO part numbers on them and were assembled from two pieces to start with. For the guys who need only these parts it will be nice to see these sell for alittle nothing and a set like yours will be worth $300-$400
